In the more than 65 years that it has been in Southern California, Disneyland Resort has become one of the most popular vacation destinations on the West Coast. Guests love the magical feel that is present throughout Walt Disney’s original dream. Since its opening in 1955, Disneyland Resort has grown exponentially. Both Disney California Adventure Park and the Downtown Disney District opened in 2001. Guests visiting Disneyland Resort can now head out of this world in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and drive down Route 66 in Radiator Springs. They can even hang out with their favorite superheroes in Avengers Campus.

Since Disneyland Resort is adding so many new and exciting areas to its theme parks, more Guests are visiting than ever before. That means that the Parks can be very crowded, no matter what time of year you visit. Disneyland is much smaller than its East Coast counterpart — Walt Disney World Resort. The streets are much more narrow. That can cause crowding in certain areas of the Parks.

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are more walking-friendly than most Disney World theme parks, but not everyone is able to walk miles every day. Disney wants to make its theme parks accessible to everyone, so many Guests bring their own scooters. They can also rent one directly from Disney.

As they have increased in popularity and usage, scooters have become quite a point of contention amongst Disney Guests. On one hand, many Guests feel that people need to be aware of scooters and respect their space. Others feel that Guests who ride scooters are becoming more and more dangerous. They claim scotter drivers don’t look out for other Guests.

TikToker therosewitch25 recently visited Disneyland with her family and had a very scary moment involving a scooter. The TikToker’s young daughter went into the applause box — an area where Cast Members clap and cheer for you. Her daughter stepped out of the box and went to go back to her mother when she was almost hit head-on by a scooter speeding by.

The video cuts out abruptly, and therosewitch25 said that it was because she dropped her camera when she saw her daughter almost get it. Viewers were shocked by what they saw. However, they also had some questions. First and foremost, they wanted to make sure the woman’s daughter was okay. Then, they wanted to know if there was a follow-up video to show the aftermath of the near-crash.

Therosewitch25 did end up posting a follow-up video. In the video, she states that the area had been blocked off by other Guests and children, so they could play with the applause box. She said that no other people had been walking or riding through the area. She then stated that the woman in question had pushed her scooter through multiple adults and children before she nearly hit the young girl.

Some people defended the woman on the scooter. They said that Guests should not have been blocking the area. However, the TikToker said that Disneyland Cast Members were the ones blocking the area. Others said that maybe the woman had limited visual capabilities, which is partly why she was using the scooter. That argument was countered with the fact that, if the woman had trouble seeing, she should not have been going as fast as she was.

Thankfully, no Guests were hurt and therosewitch25 and her family were able to continue to enjoy their day at The Happiest Place on Earth.
