These days, Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort Guests are becoming more and more disillusioned during their Disney vacations as rides’ disrepair becomes more obvious and ride breakdowns become more common.
The Disney ride that inspired the hit Pirates of the Caribbean films is actually so unfortunate when it comes to breakdowns or malfunctions that theme park Guests now allot time for the errors in their Disney itinerary — but there is also, finally, some good news for the Disneyland version of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride!
Last year, more and more Disney Guests began noticing changes to the Disneyland ride.
Missing animatronics were a particular concern, especially for repeat Disneyland visitors who enjoy this ride and have a soft spot for very specific animatronics.
Sometimes Disney animatronics are removed from rides for repairs or touch-ups, and then put back in their place.
Other times, they are never brought back and they serve as a harbinger for the ride’s upcoming permanent closure (like the animatronics on Splash Mountain, who began looking very peaky as the ride’s closure loomed).
Now, we’re happy to report that the animatronics for Pirates of the Caribbean are in no danger! A Disneyland Guest has just revealed, in a conversation on Reddit, that Disney has supposedly listened to Guest feedback and returned many missing animatronics to their homes.
“It’s cool to see the animatronics making their comeback at pirates,” the Reddit user wrote. “As of my most recent ride (4 hours ago), im happy to say that they have added back the pirates of the Caribbean main theme to the ship attacking the fort scene”.
The Disney fan also added that “the dont be cheekin woman is back and opens the window,” “all of the chase scenes are working”, the “stray cats” have returned, and the beloved “stinky pirate is back over the bridge.”
“The only thing still missing it seems,” the Reddit user pointed out, “is the 1 or 2 pirates on the right side with the shootout by the powder barrels.”
There might be some Disney fans and Disneyland visitors who love those particular pirates, but overall, the return of multiple popular animatronics to the ride is certainly a good sign!
Are you a fan of this Disneyland ride? Do you like old-school animatronics, or do you prefer CGI features (like the addition of Davy Jones years ago)?
