Quick-Service Locations We Love at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort is unquestionably the wildest of all four existing theme parks. Aside from all those standout thrill rides, like Expedition Everest and Avatar Flight of Passage (along with several others), there are a host of unique animal-centric experiences to take in as well.

Kilimanjaro Safaris, for instance, serves as perhaps the most widely renowned example of all. The Park is, after all, home to over 2,000 different animals representing literally hundreds of different species.

The Animal Kingdom also happens to be the largest Disney Park of all, spanning around 580 acres total. That’s a lot to take in for sure, and the idea of tackling everything there is to do can leave you feeling a little hungry. While there are indeed several renowned full-service sit-down establishments to take delight in, you probably happen to be on the constant move and are looking to refuel with options that are quick, convenient, and tasty at that.

Well, you are in luck. There are several counter-service options all around the Park that fit the bill in offering up all of the above. We’re sharing with you six of our top recommendations for the quick-service restaurants we love most at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

6. Pizzafari

Located on Discovery Island, this pleasingly versatile pizza stop provides the perfect remedy to stave off hunger for you and your group of intrepid explorers. And with nothing on the menu exceeding a $15 price range, this is one quick-service option that can’t be beaten. And the brightly colorful array of animals as depicted on the encompassing murals surrounding the interior of the dining room make the experience of dining here even more welcoming.

While their specialty is of course pizza, they also dish out enticing alternatives, including their Chicken Parmesan Sandwich, which comes as breaded chicken with marinara and provolone on ciabatta bread. They also ‘do up’ a pretty good Caesar Salad as well as Caesar with Chicken.

Those adhering to a plant-based diet need to take note of their delightful deliverance of a Greens and Grains Salad, dished up as a combination of mixed greens fused together with garbanzo beans, white beans, tomato, olive, red onion, pepperoncini, quinoa, and a Green Goddess Dressing.

In addition to catering to plant-based diets, Pizzafari presents several alternative takes on traditional pizza that are free of gluten, egg, milk, soy, shellfish, and nuts accordingly. Just specify your requests from their allergy-friendly menu. And in addition to all that, they even serve up a surprising array of spirited drink features as well.

5. Restaurantosaurus

Right onsite at the Park’s DinoLand U.S.A. section sits this somewhat humorously-themed eatery.  As evidenced by the décor and callouts in the dining area, Restaurantosaurus is the very culmination of paleontology student puns, which gives it a refreshing new spin on a backstory rather than merely exuding a cliché dino motif.

In keeping with the American tradition as referenced by the “U.S.A.” part of the land, you can expect to enjoy what are largely traditional American classics on the menu here. Included are two specialties that Walt Disney himself personally enjoyed so highly.

One is Walt’s Chili, which can be dished up with either Cheese Fries or atop a Foot-long Cheese Dog, and the other is Walt’s Main Street Fried Chicken Sandwich. Other tasty hits on the menu include Angus Cheeseburger variations, Breaded Shrimp, Chicken Breast Nuggets, and the Restaurantosaurus Cobb Salad.

Vegan eaters will also find great delight in chomping away at the Impossible Spicy Southwestern Burger, which comes with “Pepper Jack,” Chipotle, tomato and lettuce. And there are many allergy-friendly alternatives to take note of as well, including special gluten-free burger buns available upon request.

Let’s also not forget about all those available libations they serve up here as well, from their special house margarita to their Bud Light Lager — and then there is also their Safari Amber. Happy drinking is a part of any meal here, if you so choose.

4. Satu’li Canteen

For out-of-this-world, quick-service convenience in dining with a unique and a most novel approach, we present you with this praiseworthy pick directly located within the Park’s newest land of Pandora—The World of Avatar. While many establishments throughout Disney Parks and Resorts follow a special menu type, usually of a regional offering, Satu’li Canteen is unique in that it reflects the cultural cuisine fixings of the fictional Na’vi population of the Avatar film franchise.

The elaborate theming inside the establishment follows that of a former RDA mess hall. So, it goes without saying that there is plenty of seating available for anyone looking to sit down and enjoy their meal.

Their varying Combination Bowls are what they are best known for, with options that range from grilled chicken or beef (or both) to their Chili-Garlic Shrimp offering as well as their plant-based Chili-Spiced Crispy Fried Tofu choice.

They also serve up their popularly requested Cheeseburger Steamed Pods – Bao Buns, which come as a steamed cheeseburger-styled pod, loaded up with ground beef, ketchup, mustard, pickle, and cheddar cheese. Again, they do well to accommodate allergies and other dietary needs and even have a couple of alternatives to combination bowls on the Kids’ Menu, including their Cheese Quesadilla.

Spirited beverages are also served up here, to accompany your dining delights, but for more mutual morsels across the board, we recommend turning your attention to their delectable dessert features, like the Blueberry Cream Cheese Mouse (which comes with passion fruit curd) or their Chocolate Cake (with a crunchy hazelnut cookie layer, banana cream, and goji berries).

3. Flame Tree Barbecue

If hearty traditional barbecue that presents well-loved comforts that are done up with a unique twist is what you’re going for, then Flame Tree Barbecue may just be your happy place. This is another brilliant discovery to make while out and about on Discovery Island, and you’ll find plentiful portioned meals here — the perfect way to fill up and replenish yourself entirely.

From 1/2 Chicken meals to their St. Louis Rib Dinner and from their Ribs and Chicken Combo to Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork, there are so many robustly packed options here. Their Smokehouse Chicken Salad stands head and shoulders above all other chicken salads, for sure.

It is a compilation of pulled chicken on a bed of mixed greens tossed together with smoked cheddar, granny smith apple slices, dried cranberries, cornbread croutons, crispy onions, and a specialty barbecue-ranch dressing.

Vegans seeking out a pleasing plant-based alternative to customary barbecue will delight in their Hot Link Smokehouse Sandwich feature. This pleasing presentation comes as a meat-free sausage loaded up with tangy mustard barbecue sauce, coleslaw, and crispy onions all on a house-made New England-style roll. Again, gluten-free buns are also available upon request.

Drinks here are again plentiful, including a vast array of non-alcoholic specialties as well (including frozen fruit slushies). And you don’t need to be a kid to enjoy their Loggerhead Turtle, which comes as Sprite fused together with granny smith apple syrup over ice with a gummy worm garnishment and a sugar lime rim.

2. Harambe Market

Whether you come seeking out a fresh fruit fixing or a light snack, or come craving something more filling, this open-air setup on location in Africa has plenty of delectable delights to inspire you. The surrounding theme and atmosphere follow a design that is based on an old colonial-era train depot and operates as a buzzing marketplace setup.

As a culmination of many different regional food features, you’re certain to find satisfaction among many highly enjoyable hits. Combination Bowls featuring chicken or ribs (or both) pack a pleasing fusion of unique flavors, as do other highly hailed highlights including their specialty Harambe Salad (with the option to add chicken) and even a Hot Link Bowl with plant-based sausage with cilantro rice and mixed greens and salsa garnish.

Spirited libations and creatively crafted mocktail fusions are also served up here. From Serengeti Sangria to the Leopard’s Eye vodka, there are many ways to get that buzz. But the virgin Frozen Flamingo with strawberry and passion fruit is a hit with all ages. This is also the place to get one of those adorable Simba Cupcakes for a sweet sendoff.

1. Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafés

If you just love the table-service restaurant Yak & Yeti as much as we do, then this sistering quick-service option is perfect for those times when you are on the go. Because they use the same kitchen, Cast Members operating the pickup window are excellent when it comes to accommodating your very specific needs and getting your fill of the same customizable hits offered in-house (just ask).

What’s more, they’re even open for breakfast and present many convenient quick bites, like their Breakfast Bowl, which comes as an egg scramble with cheddar, potatoes, pepper, and onions. It can be customized to include sausage or bacon as well.  They also offer their Egg White English Muffin (again customizable), fresh fruit, Hash Brown Bites, and even a Yogurt Parfait.

For main meal picks, they really up the game on Asian takeout, with such stellar presentations that include Honey Sesame Chicken, Sweet-and-Sour Tempura Shrimp, a Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich, Rib Tips, Teriyaki Chicken Salad, and more. They also put a spin on an American traditional hit via their American Kobe Cheeseburger, which comes as Kobe beef, cheese, tomato, lettuce, and even Asian pickles in addition to fries.

Vegan eaters will also enjoy their Veggie Burger, comprised of a crispy quinoa and veggie-based patty with Pepper Jack, tomato, lettuce, and specialty house “Yak” sauce. An additional veggie-based feature is their Vegetable Tikka Masala with garbanzo beans, zucchini, onions, peppers, and tomatoes. It comes in a creamy Tikka Masala Sauce (which you can customize accordingly per diet) and is accompanied by white rice.

As far as sweet sendoffs go, two very enticing dessert options to consider include both their Mini Chocolate Silk Cake as well as their Mini Mango Pie. If you’ve ever tried either in the restaurant, you know you can’t miss this perfectly proportioned serving to tide you over.
