Disney Bringing Back Iconic Birthday Cake Castle to Honor 100 Years Of Walt’s Disney

Walt Disney Birthday Cake Castle

On January 27, the Walt Disney Company began celebrating its 100th Anniversary. The celebration kicked off at Walt Disney’s original theme park, Disneyland. Guests could visit Disneyland — and Disney California Adventure Park — and see new nighttime spectaculars, meet characters like Mickey and Minnie in special outfits, and indulge in limited-time food offerings. Disneyland Resort truly did an amazing job of celebrating the magic and the imagination of Walt Disney. However, they didn’t want to stop at just Disneyland.

Disney reassured Guests that every Disney theme park would celebrate Disney’s 100th in some way. Over at Walt Disney World Resort, however, they had to wait, as the Most Magical Place on Earth was still in the midst of celebrating its 50th Anniversary. But that anniversary ended on March 31, so now the 100th can head to Florida!

And Disney has decided that they don’t want this to be any ordinary celebration. Disney Imagineers have decided to bring back iconic moments from Disney’s past to celebrate the future. Now, we can share that Disney has decided to give Cinderella Castle another makeover. For the 50th, the castle received a pink and blue paint job. However, for the Disney100, something very special is happening. Disney is bringing back one of Cinderella Castle’s most famous looks — the pink birthday cake that they created for the Park when it turned 25!

As you may remember, Cinderella Castle became a giant birthday cake, complete with frosted turrets, lollipop decorations, sprinkles, and candles. Two decades later, people still talk about it. In fact, Disney recently released a coffee mug that honors the birthday cake castle. The original castle had a giant 25 on the front of it, but with this being the 100th Anniversary, Imagineers have created a giant 100 to go over the entrance to the castle. What better way to celebrate 100 years of Disney than with one of its most memorable theme park transformations?

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Disney celebration without a ton of great merchandise as well. So, Disney’s birthday cake will also be featured on t-shirts, hats, and two symbols of the 90s that are making a comeback — fanny packs and bucket hats.

At this time, we don’t know how long Disney’s 100th Anniversary celebration will last, so it’s possible that the birthday cake castle could be sticking around for quite a while. If you didn’t get a chance to see the amazing cake castle 25 years ago, then make sure you head down to Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom this time around!

Oh, and by the way.
