For the First Time in 10 Years, Disney Opens a New Theme Park

Disney Adventure World officially opened to the public on March 29, 2026. It’s the first entirely new Disney theme park since Shanghai Disneyland debuted nearly a decade ago.

Disneyland Paris Resort unveiled its reimagined second park after closing Walt Disney Studios Park forever on March 28, ending 24 years of operation for one of Disney’s most controversial theme park properties.

Walt Disney Studios Park faced criticism from the moment it opened for being a low-budget version of Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort. The second European Disney park suffered constant operational problems, with guests calling it a “half-day park” due to its sterile backlot theming and limited attractions.

Disneyland Paris Resort announced in April 2025 that it would transform Walt Disney Studios Park into Disney Adventure World, following Walt Disney World Resort’s approach of converting a movie-making-themed park (Disney’s Hollywood Studios) into a handful of immersive experiences inspired by existing franchises.

After weeks of media and Passholder previews, Disney Adventure World finally opened to regular guests on Sunday morning.

What Remains, What’s New

Disney Adventure World retains popular attractions and areas from Walt Disney Studios Park, including Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Marvel Avengers Campus, and Worlds of Pixar (featuring Toy Story Playland).

New areas include World Premiere Plaza—the main entrance featuring shops, restaurants, and a theater—Adventure Way, and the World of Frozen.

Adventure Way is home to an all-new ride, Raiponce Tangled Spin, inspired by Tangled (2010). Mandy Moore returned to voice Rapunzel for announcements for the attraction. The area also features Regal View Restaurant & Lounge, a character dining experience with  Disney Princesses, including Belle, Aurora, Jasmine, and Ariel.

Adventure Way offers prime viewing for Disney Cascade of Lights, the nighttime spectacular with pyrotechnics, water effects, and aquatic drone technology. Music and imagery draw from Mulan (1998), Hercules (1997), Zootopia (2016), Up (2009), and Moana (2016).

The largest expansion at Disney Adventure World, World of Frozen, is home to Frozen Ever After (similar to EPCOT’s boat ride), the Nordic Crowns Tavern restaurant, a Royal Encounter with Anna and Elsa, and the “A Celebration in Arendelle” show, showcasing the new walk-around Olaf audio-animatronic.

Future Expansions

An Up spinning carousel is under construction in Adventure Way alongside a Lion King (1994) land with a log flume ride. Disneyland Paris Resort hasn’t announced opening dates for either of these projects.

Planning documents for Disney Adventure World suggest a potential upcoming Avatar (2009) land similar to Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Disneyland Paris hasn’t confirmed this, though Disney is developing an Avatar attraction for Disney California Adventure Park at Disneyland Resort.
