Viewers took their chance to let Disney-owned ABC News know they were not impressed with the journalism they saw on the platform during an interview with J.D. Vance.

When it comes to news media and journalism, one of the foremost qualities and aspirations that one strives towards is providing a neutral platform for people of different views and beliefs to voice their concerns and opinions. However, more often than not, viewers criticize news platforms for their obviously partisan arguments and debates.

Recently, ABC News came under fire for this exact reason.

ABC News Features Interview with J.D. Vance About Trump

On February 4, 2024, X handle @ThisWeekABC shared a clip of an interview and conversation between George Stephanopoulos and J.D. Vance wherein Vance was “pressed” by Stephanopoulos about “sexual assault and defamation trials” against former President Donald Trump.

According to the handle, GOP Senator J.D. Vance “decried juries” in “left-wing jurisdictions.”

Vance argued, “This is not about prosecuting Trump for something that he did. It’s about throwing him off the ballot.”

This topic is a delicate one and it’s crucial that it’s navigated carefully. Some viewers took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their disappointment at how ABC News handled the matter.

One critic—Richard Grenell—expressed, “@Disney Executives must watch @GStephanopoulos’ blatant partisanship in this interview. ABC News needs a house cleaning. George’s Democrat activism is a threat to democracy when he pretends to be a journalist.”

However, this wasn’t all. Grenell even went on to add, “He clearly is a fraud. The whole team at @ThisWeekABCis Left wing activists. Just watch George and tell me if he is a partisan activist or a fair reporter. You decide.”

And it wasn’t only Grenell who held these views. Another viewer also took to X to share that “George continually twisted every answer the senator said. Terrible journalists on ABC the woke Disney news.”

Of course, it’s important to note that for those viewers who disagreed with ABC News’s approach, many also had no issues with it.

One user commented, “Good for you @GStephanopoulos! Great job in not allowing JD Vance to deflect and spin ‘alternative facts’!”

Another added, “I don’t see any pressing. George asks a 10-second question, and then lets Vance grandstand for a minute straight. Pressing would entail pushing back on the notion that law enforcement is prosecuting Trump for political reasons and not because Trump is a big, fat criminal.”
