Disney has officially confirmed that a new show is in the works that could replace a beloved former attraction that shut up shop earlier this year!
The Walt Disney World Resort is universally agreed upon to be one of the best places in the world for a Disney vacation. The Central Florida Disney Resort is home to myriad rides and attractions like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain that have had fans flocking to its doors for decades now.
Earlier this year, one beloved attraction permanently shut shop, leaving many fans heartbroken at its loss. However, Disney has now announced the arrival of a new show that could well be its replacement.

Disney Announces New Little Mermaid-Inspired Show
In January of this year, we reported that the Voyage of the Little Mermaid attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios had closed permanently due to mold. Now, there’s a Little Mermaid (1989)-inspired show that could well be thought of as its replacement!
As theme park journalist Scott Gustin shared, “a reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic The Little Mermaid, will debut in the newly refreshed Animation Courtyard theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Fall 2024.”
Gustin shared in a follow-up post, quoting Disney, “When it opens, the show will feature stunning new set pieces, cutting-edge effects, and a bold new design that captures Ariel’s imagination and emotions through her unique view of the world around her.”

Disney Parks Blog also gave fans further insight into what the show would look like. They shared, “‘The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure’ will have guests flipping their fins to musical numbers inspired by the film, including ‘Part of Your World,’ ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls,’ and more.”
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is going to get a lot more sweet with the beat!

It’s always unfortunate when an attraction has to shut up shop, be that for a short period i.e. a refurbishment, or more permanently, like Voyage of the Little Mermaid or Splash Mountain. However, it’s therefore incredibly exciting when a replacement show is announced and fans can enjoy the new entertainment on offer!
