The Walt Disney Company has been involved in many controversies lately. Among them are certain shows and movies that have divided fan bases of Star Wars, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and other IPs.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
Enter the Disney+ show She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The MCU phase four show focused on the character of Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who, through a blood transfusion with her cousin Bruce Banner, becomes like the Incredible Hulk.

However, unlike the Hulk in earlier incarnations, Jennifer Walters maintains her basic composure, talks eloquently, and maintains much of her personality and memories as she transitions between human and hulk form.
Disney+ Show Divides Fans
The show received a lot of hatred from Marvel fans across the internet. In addition to changing her character from the one in the comics, the show contained many storylines that some would consider ‘woke.’

Themes of toxic masculinity, online trolls, and feminism caused a riff among fans of the Marvel Universe. In addition, certain scenes were mocked widely, including seeing the CGI character twerk with Megan Thee Stallion, conversations mocking other MCU characters such as Iron Man/Tony Stark, and social commentary on issues such as online dating.
However, the show was not without its fanbase that defended the tonal change. It was, for better or worse, unlike any other movie or TV show produced under the Marvel name.

But it seems that the show was also costly to produce. This was partly due to the expense of CGI work to create She-Hulk. CGI work was criticized and mocked for being lackluster, as well.
According to many sources (such as Variety), the show cost as much as $25 million per episode. Spread across eight episodes, that price tag equals the production of a big Disney blockbuster.
Show’s Star Doubts Season 2
The show’s star, Tatiana Maslany (who played the titular superhero), has recently stated that the likelihood of the show returning is low. She appeared on streamer NerdIncorrect’s Twitch gameshow Codenames Live and was asked, “Should we hope for a season 2?”

“I don’t think so,” Maslany said. “I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like, ‘No thanks!”
The Walt Disney Company is looking at ways to cut costs across the entire organization lately. It has been announced that Pixar will be undergoing layoffs (as much as 20%).
In addition, many movies and shows are likely on the chopping block. It seems like She-Hulk: Attorney at Law didn’t make it.

However, that’s not to say it NEVER will. The direction that Disney will take Marvel is anyone’s guess. She-Hulk could even appear in the next Avengers movie.
