The Disney princess Tiana who starred in the 2009 Walt Disney Animation Studios movie Princess and the Frog is going to be getting yet another establishment built in her honor.
Princess Tiana, who is voiced by Disney Legend Anika Noni Rose, was first created for the 2009 Princess and the Frog movie in which she (a waitress dreaming of opening her own restaurant) embarked on an adventure with a royal (Prince Naveen of Maldonia) who had been transformed into a frog.
Tiana and Prince Naveen travel through the bayous of New Orleans with friends like fireflies and Louis the alligator in the Disney movie, until the spell is broken, Tiana and Prince Naveen fall in love, and Tiana gets her own restaurant.
Now, a similar restaurant is becoming a reality that Disneyland Guests can actually experience! Journalist Scott Gustin was treated to some early previews of D23 Expo news last night in Anaheim, California, and learned that a Princess Tiana restaurant is coming to Disneyland’s New Orleans Square.
NEW: Disneyland New Orleans Square will get a Tiana restaurant: Tiana’s Palace

The restaurant will be called Tiana’s Palace, and it seems likely that the restaurant will be focusing on delicious New Orleans cuisine like gumbo, jambalaya, and (of course) beignets.
Princess Tiana is also in the process of getting her own television show (a Disney+ musical series involving Maldonia that will be animated just like the original movie from Walt Disney Animation Studios) as well as her own ride (called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure) that is replacing the classic water ride called Splash Mountain in the Magic Kingdom Disney Park.
Since food is a big focus in Princess Tiana’s story, especially in her first animated movie — and since New Orleans is Tiana’s home, and New Orleans is known for its delicious, flavorful food — the concept of a Disneyland New Orleans Square restaurant inspired by Tiana and her homecooked food is definitely an appealing one.
This restaurant will most likely be out of Disneyland Guests’ reach for a while, but hopefully we will know a tentative opening date soon — and Disney Fanatic will continue to cover live news coming from the 2022 D23 Expo!
