If you head to social media right now, you will likely stumble upon collective outrage over a pair of images that have surfaced online. The photos in question are allegedly leaked from the set of the reshoots for the Walt Disney Company’s live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The images have caused people to attack Disney again over its “politically correct” casting choices and full-grown men and women used as dwarfs. However, something is odd when peering a bit closer at these pictures. They are not official images and instead feature stand-ins.

Disney’s Live-Action Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Remake

Disney’s next major remake is a retelling of its classic animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as a live-action musical. Directed by Marc Webb and written by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson, this adaptation stars Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. The film is set to hit theaters on March 22, 2024, and promises a fresh take on the story, featuring new songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. It will explore new themes and feature a more realistic world compared to the original animated version. Additionally, the movie boasts a diverse cast, which always means criticism.

Questionable Live-Action Snow White Images Cause Outrage

The Daily Mail recently tweeted a few stills from what they claim is the set of the movie as it undergoes reshoots. Popular conservative critics didn’t take long to share the images on social media. They are currently trending all over Twitter, with cries of outrage at Disney for its casting decisions.

Rachel Zegler is an American actress with a Colombian mother and Polish father, but some critics have taken issue with a Latin American woman playing the titular character. They also saw the images of the dwarfs and brought about arguments over them being adult men and women. Prominent conservative Charlie Kirk’s rant over the images has several million views in just four hours.

However, the pictures circulating are actually not official. Disney originally told The Daily Beast that the photos were fake:

The photos are fake and not from our production. We are currently trying to have the Daily Mail issue a correction.

The company is now under more fire since it clarified that the images are from the filming but feature stand-ins that will look very different in post-production.

Looking at her face, it is almost obvious that the woman in the photo is not Rachel Zegler. Furthermore, it has been stated that the dwarfs in the remake will be reimagined as magical creatures using CGI in Disney’s new story, which the image clearly doesn’t showcase.

Nevertheless, people immediately spread the stills online. It has been trending all week, with some shouting that this is just further “woke” garbage from the entertainment giant and they will not support it. The internet being what it is, some of the tweets are excessively unpleasant.

This isn’t the first time Disney has been attacked for its casting decisions. Critics had controversial opinions on the company casting Halle Bailey as Ariel in its live-action The Little Mermaid remake. However, having such an uproar at Disney over something that isn’t even finished yet is interesting.
