Information about the EPCOT Future World Hotel project, sourced years ago, seems to have resurfaced in a new development.
The Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort are constantly evolving to include new attractions and rides to keep with the times. Just this year, we’ve had many teasers for new lands—Villains Land, Encanto, and Coco lands in Magic Kingdom Park, and the DinoLand revamp in Disney’sAnimal Kingdom—and new arrivals in Disneyland Park in Disneyland Resort, EPCOT in Walt Disney World and more.
Earlier this year, Disney Parks released new concept art for the destination, including Journey of Water (the Moana-inspired attraction) and World Celebration, among other attractions. In addition, the Te Fiti monument, which will be the centerpiece of the Journey of Water attraction, was revealed at D23 Expo this year; altogether, they are set to be a new experience for at the Central Florida in the coming months.
In the midst of this, we found out that a permit has been filed for construction, maintenance, and labor at 1474 Avenue of the Stars — the address the previously rumored EPCOT Future World Hotel was registered for on September 27, 2022. The in-Park Disney hotel had an original filing for 1474-2000 Avenue of the Stars per plans shared by Ken Pozek last year.
While there has been no confirmation or concrete reason for why the permit for this matching address has been filed in the area of the , with all the development at Disney World Resort and other Resorts worldwide only increasing in volume, it’s definitely a coincidence to take note of and file away (pun not intended).
While this is speculation at this point, a hotel in EPCOT could be a sound business decision for the Mouse House. Considering the Blue Sky ideas Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, shared during the D23 Expo, it could well be in the works.
