For weeks now, people have been theorizing if Disney has officially pulled the plug on the controversial ‘Snow White’ movie; now, one article seemingly confirms this. We at Disney Fanatic jumped in to fact-check.

The live-action remakes from the Walt Disney Company have been more than controversial. There has been notable backlash against Disney’s casting of Halle Bailey and Yara Shahidi as Princess Ariel in The Little Mermaid and Tinker Bell in Peter Pan and Wendy, and the general frustration at the quality of Disney films that have been released in the last few years.

However, one film—Snow White—set to release in 2024, has faced more backlash than any of Disney’s other remakes. So much so that fans have even demanded Disney cancel the movie entirely.

Is Disney Canceling the New’ Snow White’ Movie?

From the controversy surrounding the magical creatures replacing the dwarf characters, and Rachel Zegler, the actress who plays Snow White, getting slammed for her “entitled” remarks, there was theoretically enough reason for Disney to cancel the movie entirely. Add to this the possible impact of the WGA and SAG-ATFRA strike.

Considering the backlash to the movie and the precarious situation Hollywood finds itself in right now when rumors swirled on social media that the upcoming Snow White was to be canceled, many believed it to be true.

However, as it turns out, the rumor is just that: a rumor that is false.

Satire news site Mouse Trap News published an article explaining that “because Disney favors progressivism over quality films…their core consumers don’t like that. The people Disney is appealing to are not the people giving them money.” And, because of “all the controversy” of the Snow White film, and Disney’s financial struggles, they will be canning the movie entirely.

While Mouse Trap News is certainly known for its humorous stories and satirical takes on Disney news, fans should note that the site is not meant to be taken seriously.

Disney, for its part, has not released an official statement about the movie any which way, and all we know about it now is that the movie’s release might be delayed due to the current WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike.
