In 2013, Disney released its newest animated film, which would become one of the most successful animated films of all time and have one of the most popular Disney songs ever. You may have guessed that the film we are talking about is Frozen (2013). Frozen starred Idina Menzel as Princess Elsa, the princess of the Kingdom of Arendelle who is keeping a huge secret from everyone. When that secret is revealed, Elsa flees Arendelle, but must return to help her sister, Anna, and the people who live in the kingdom.

With the success of Frozen, Disney released a sequel film in 2019, which saw Menzel return as Queen Elsa. Frozen II (2019) also saw the return of Kristen Bell as the voice of Princess Anna, Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, and Josh Gad as Olaf. Frozen II was even more successful at the box office than the original film. The sequel even has a higher Rotten Tomatoes score — audiences gave the original movie an 85% rating, while Frozen II has a 92% rating.
Disney announced that a third Frozen movie was in the works back in February, with Menzel, Bell, Gad, and Groff all expected to return. But now, we have even more Frozen news. According to Disney CEO Bob Iger, Disney is also working on Frozen 4!
Iger spoke to Good Morning America hosts Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and Michael Strahan from Hong Kong Disneyland. During the interview, he said:
“‘Frozen 3’ is in the works, and there might be a ‘Frozen 4’ in the works too. But I don’t have much to say about those films right now. Jen Lee, who created the original ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen 2,’ is hard at work with her team at Disney animation on not one but actually two stories.”

Mr. Iger is currently visiting the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort for the opening of the resort’s newest land — Arendelle: World of Frozen. The new land will open to guests on November 20, 2023, but Hong Kong Disney cast members celebrated the opening on November 16. Cast members were the first to experience the magic of the land by riding the new attractions, tasting the delicious food, and shopping in the new stores.
Arendelle: World of Frozen will feature two attractions — Frozen Ever After (nearly identical to the EPCOT version) and a roller coaster called Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs.
Frozen 4 is not the only sequel film that Disney animators are working on. Earlier this year, Iger also revealed that the company was also working on Zootopia 2 and Toy Story 5.
Just days ago, during the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call, Iger admitted that they “lost focus” over the past few years and were more concerned about quantity over quality. By focusing more on quality, Iger hopes to bring Disney back to the movie powerhouse it once was.
