Disney fanatics have been seeing the closures of everything from classic Disney water rides to popular Disney Resort bars lately — some permanent, some only temporary — and since Disney has also been mute when it comes to many of these closed rides’ or amenities’ return dates, many Disney fans associate the ‘temporary’ closure of their favorites Disney offerings with potential permanent closings.
The classic ride Splash Mountain is on its way out already, leaving the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort’s Magic Kingdom behind — but now another classic Magic Kingdom ride might be leaving, too! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a popular roller coaster in the Magic Kingdom, and has been replicated in four of the Disney Parks across the globe: Disneyland, Disney World, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disneyland.
The Disneyland Paris version of this roller coaster is called Big Thunder Mountain and is closing at the end of September (September 26, to be exact), and Disney has not revealed any more information about the ride’s return. Disneyland Paris visitors who love the ride, and cannot make it to any of the other three Disney Parks with the roller coaster, will most likely be anxiously waiting to learn if the roller coaster is returning!
Another ride is closing in Disneyland Paris Resort as well, although this ride has a virtually guaranteed return. The Parisian version of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which premiered in 2014 and is called Ratatouille: The Adventure, is closing for a chunk of September.
The ride (which, according to the Disneyland Paris website, is “a Disneylicious adventure that’s sure to leave you hungry for more”) follows Remy the culinary-loving rat as he flees through a French kitchen after he and his friends have disturbed the villainous Chef Skinner. The ride will be closed between September 19 and 24.
Hopefully Big Thunder Mountain fans will be just as relieved as Ratatouille fans, and their favorite roller coaster will return soon! We can only hope the same for Indiana Jones fans, too, considering the recent news.Â
