The Episode of ‘Bluey’ Disney REFUSES to Air

If you have a young child in your family, then odds are you have heard of the show BlueyBluey is a show that first premiered in Australia in 2018 and tells the story of the Heeler family. The main character is, of course, Bluey, but she also has a dad named Bandit, a mom named Chilli, and her sister, Bingo. The show was such a huge success that Disney bought the international broadcasting rights in 2019.

While Bluey is the most popular children’s show on Disney+, it is not a show that parents should not be warned about. Bluey covers very sensitive topics, like infertility, miscarriages, and death. Parents are encouraged to watch Bluey with their children, in case the kids have questions. Some parents may decide to skip over certain episodes due to the content. But rest assured, Bluey does address these topics in a way that meets children on their level and one that is not traumatizing.

There are currently 141 episodes of Bluey that have been made. However, you will only find 140 of those episodes on Disney+. That is because Disney reportedly refuses to air one of the episodes.

The episode in question is Season 2, Episode 13, called Dad Baby.

In the episode, the family finds the old baby harness that was used to carry both Bluey and Bingo when they were first born. Bluey and Bingo then think of a game — their dad has to carry Bingo around and pretend that he is pregnant. The episode is full of pregnancy jokes as Bandit learns just how difficult it is to be pregnant and still have full days of work and taking care of a child.

There are a couple of scenes that may have pushed the limit for Disney. At one point, Bingo pops out between Bandit’s legs. Then, in another scene, a water bath is set up for Bandit to give birth. A neighbor comes over to help “deliver” the baby, and Bingo causes as much trouble during “the birth” as possible.

Disney has not officially commented on why they will not put the episode on Disney+.

Dad Baby may be the only Bluey episode that is not available to stream on Disney+, but it is not the first episode that has received the “Disney treatment”. Disney has been called out in the past for “watering down” or censoring episodes of the hit show. However, some of those changes were made because common Australian phrases might not be understood by American audiences.

However, it is not just Disney that has caught some flack for the content of the show. One episode focused on Chilli and Bandit saying that they need to lose weight. They then stand in front of a mirror and point out their flaws. Both Australian and American audiences had issues with the episode and accused the show of fat-shaming.

In addition to being available to stream on Disney plus, Bluey is also airing on The Disney Channel and Disney Junior.

  1. I love bluey! Even as an adult, I think it approaches topics that NEED to be learned. I AM NOT for censoring the show. I think there are lessons in the show for adults AND children that shouldn’t be pushed on the back burner and ignored. I don’t understand why people are avoiding these lessons when, as a child of the 90’s we were exposed to MUCH worse in MUCH harsher ways. Bluey teaches things gently and in a way that kids can understand without going into the gruesome details. It glorifies open communication as well. Not at all like the “Conservative’s ” “Chip Chilla” show while the people in charge openly say it’s NOT an Edutainment show. That show basically gas lights kids into lessons and yet Bluey gets all the blame. It’s not right or fair to the next generation or the adults watching the show.
