Previous Update: 11:35 am ET – Disney World Drops New Clue, Teases TRON Opening MONTH

Last night, Disney Parks dropped a Tweet that many fans believe reveals the opening date for the highly anticipated roller coaster: TRON: Lightcycle/Run at Magic Kingdom Park.

First announced for Magic Kingdom in 2017, the thrilling indoor/outdoor coaster originally unveiled in Shanghai Disneyland’s Tomorrowland attraction over Space Mountain has been under construction at Walt Disney World for a period of time longer than it took for its host Disney Theme Park to be built, and shuttered the Walt Disney World Railroad in the process. Last September, Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro finally confirmed that TRON’s Orlando variant would open “sometime” in the Spring of 2023. But when was that some time? Well, some fans think they figured it out.

Here’s Disney Parks’ Tweet: a classic high score ranking one might find on the classic TRON arcade game. Do you see the date?

Many think, like @j0shj0shbinks, that “US” means the US Park, and the opening date is either March 21, 2023, or April 21, 2023.

Others clearly see other dates as well, including the release date of TRON: Legacy, the birthday of the franchise’s lead actor, Jeff Bridges (Sam Flynn), Magic Kingdom’s opening date, Disneyland’s opening date, and possibly the Cast Member preview dates!

At this time, however, Disney Parks has not confirmed or denied any of these theories.

As for us at Disney Fanatic, we think that an opening date of April 21, 2023, and a Cast Member preview window of April 4 – April 8, 2023, is as good a guess as any at this point, and if 4/21 is indeed correct, it will be a day where every Annual Passholder Tier can enjoy the Parks.

The only question left is when does Disney World plan to have the Annual Passholder preview for the new attraction?
