We have known for a while now that Disney Cruise Line was planning to build a second exclusive port of call in The Bahamas called “Lighthouse Point,” on the island of Eleuthera. And the launching of the project was speculated to push up Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rhode’s retirement. But it was not clear, even after the D23 Expo last September, when the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasyand Disney Wish would first set their course to the new destination. Now we know.

According to DisneyParks Blog, “Disney Cruise Line will welcome guests to a one-of-a-kind island destination at Lighthouse Point, located on the island of Eleuthera in The Bahamas, for the first time during its opening season in summer 2024!”

Building on what Castaway Cay (Gorda Cay) started so many years ago, Lighthouse Point is the result of environmentally conscious collaborative efforts between Disney Imagineers and local Bahamian artists and advisors to bring an authentic and vibrant experience to life.

Concept art displays a destination far bigger than its predecessor with a plethora of options, from a Bahamian art and culture pavilion and luxurious cabanas to water play areas and watercraft rentals.

Lighthouse Point is just one part of a multi-faceted ongoing expansion of Disney Cruise Line. Shortly after sending the Disney Wish into service, Disney announced an expansion to Australia and New Zealand via the South Pacific with the Disney Wonder, the construction of the second Triton-Class ship, the Disney Treasure, and the purchase of the behemoth Global Dream cruise ship.

It is should be noted that Lighthouse Point has still not been added to the Disney Cruise Line website and it is still unclear at this time when Disney cruises with Lighthouse Point on the itinerary will be available for booking.

We at Disney Fanatic will continue to monitor this story and will update our readers as more details come to light.
