There are so many things that make a Walt Disney World Resort vacation truly spectacular. There are amazing rides, delicious food, stunning nighttime shows, and so much more. However, one thing you may not consider is all the different modes of transportation. But they are as essential to Disney World as any other attraction.

For years, guests could travel to and from Disney World theme parks and Resort hotels via bus, ferry, boat, and Disney’s iconic monorail. But in 2019, Disney upped their transportation game and opened the Walt Disney World Resort Skyliner.

However, if you are traveling to Walt Disney World Resort this month, there is important Skyliner information that you need to be aware of.

Here is more information on the closure from Disney:

January 16 – 21

  • The Skyliner route between Disney’s Caribbean Beach, Pop Century Resort, and Art of Animation is closed.
  • The line between Caribbean Beach and Disney’s Hollywood Studios is closed.

January 16 – 27

  • The Skyliner route between Caribbean Beach, Disney’s Riviera Resort, and EPCOT’s International Gateway is closed.

If you are staying at one of the Disney Resort hotels on the Skyliner route, you can use buses to take you to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT while the Skyliner is closed.

Disney Skyliner Fun

One of the cool things about the Disney World Skyliner is that most of the gondolas have fun themes.

It’s always exciting to approach your gondola and see what theme you have. Maybe you have a trip to EPCOT with the Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion. Or perhaps your gondola is themed after Finding Nemo or one of Disney’s classic characters.

The gondola is completely handicap friendly, with guests able to board with their wheelchairs or mobility scooters. However, it is important to note that only one scooter, stroller, or wheelchair is allowed in a gondola at one time.

If you are traveling on the Skyliner, be sure to have your camera ready! Disney’s Skyliner soars more than 90 feet in the air at its highest point, giving you some of the best views of Walt Disney World! But make sure you remain seated while taking your photos. Guests are not allowed to stand while the Skyliner is in motion.

It is also important to note that the Skyliner closes during inclement weather. Disney does not operate the Skyliner during storms or high winds. It will also stop operations if there is lightning in the area.

Despite the Disney Skyliner’s temporary closure, we look forward to the refurbishment to keep the transportation experience safe and memorable!

  1. The Skyliner to Carribian Beach Resort is also the one to the Rivieara Resort. The station is between them.
