After months of waiting, fans have an update on the Figment meet and greet that’s coming to Disney World this year!
Character meet ‘n’ greets are one of the best parts of the Disney experience. Stepping into Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or EPCOT, reveling in that Disney vibe, and hugging and interacting with your favorite Disney character is certainly a feeling that few places can evoke. Some of the best stories and Guest accounts that we have reported on have been involving meeting iconic princesses or villains is the cherry on top of a Walt Disney World vacation.

Figment Meet ‘n’ Greet Announced in EPCOT
Last year, during the 2022 D23 Expo, Disney Parks chairman Josh D’Amaro announced that a Figment meet ‘n’ greet was coming to EPCOT, during his “A Boundless Future: Disney Parks, Experiences and Products” presentation.
Figment is one of the most beloved characters in the world of Disney. The character is so beloved that when Disney World released a Figment popcorn bucket, people queued up in lines so long, they made headlines.
The character was first introduced to Disney World in 1983 when the attraction Journey Into Imagination opened. Figment was briefly removed from the attraction and from the Disney Park when the attraction closed for refurbishment and reopened in 1999. However, the backlash from fans was so notable that Disney quickly remedied the situation.

Disney World Files a Permit for a Character Meet ‘n’ Greet
In the latest news concerning Figment, as we steam headlong into the latter half of 2023, the appearance of Figment is coming upon us. While we don’t have an official date for the character’s debut, we know that it must be in the works, and we can anticipate an announcement from Disney sometime soon.
This is because Disney World recently filed a permit for the “installation of scenic items” at the Journey into Imagination pavilion. Bungalow Scenic Studios is listed as the contractor on the permit, a company known for its frequent collaborations with Walt Disney World, especially on smaller-scale entertainment sets and offerings.
Bungalow Scenic Studios is also known for its work on the Encanto x CAMP experience in New York and Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wish. The company also worked on the set for the Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope meet and greet in the Imagination! Pavilion.
Disney has not yet announced an official date, however, they previously intimated that Figment would appear in the Disney Parks “later this summer.” Per the Walt Disney World calendar, summer ends after Labor Day weekend; is this a sign that Figment is coming to the Disney Theme Park sooner rather than later?
