Walt Disney World in Florida is a place where people can go to meet many beloved characters from movies spanning generations. However, did you know the theme park also houses famous mascots not seen in Disney films? EPCOT’s United Kingdom Pavilion is home to a popular character on social media who has found fame due to the Disney Day Drinker’s Club. However, it looks like the must-see social media celebrity has now been retired by Disney.
Beloved EPCOT Mascot
“Drinking Around the World” at EPCOT is an informal activity where visitors sample alcoholic beverages from the 11 countries represented in the park’s World Showcase. It involves starting in one country, trying its drinks, and then moving through the showcase to experience the drinks of each country. Over the years, many guests have voiced their concerns that EPCOT has a drinking problem. Belligerent and drunk parkgoers have been filmed causing havoc, and some call for an alcohol ban.
However, this hasn’t stopped fans of the craze from joining to promote drinking in the park. The Disney Day Drinkers Club started small but has grown to almost 80,000 people across social media, particularly on Facebook. Its official mascot is a trash can located just outside the Rose and Crown Pub exit in the United Kingdom Pavilion of EPCOT. The club has nicknamed him Binny and has made him an internet sensation.
“As most people know, it’s hard to find a table when you need to set your drink down as you are day drinking,” the official club website explains. “Usually, the nearest trashcan will suffice. On one of our first meet-ups, we were drinking around the world, and we discovered the perfect Disney Day Drinkers club mascot. The trashcan at the exit ( not in the front ) of Rose and Crown pub! We were lucky enough at the moment to have a priest on hand drinking with us to officially bless it.”
Disney Removes EPCOT Binny Trash Can
Binny has grown to immense popularity on social media since 2021. People love to dress him up in clothes, stickers, and other things. He is also a must-see photo opportunity for people familiar with him. However, Disney has apparently had enough of the crowds swarming this unlikely beloved character and has ruined the fun.
Twitter/X user @TheLeisureProf took a photo recently at Binny’s location. Sadly, it seems the beloved Disney Day Drinkers Club mascot has been removed from EPCOT and is nowhere to be found.
Ok but seriously did they really move this garbage can because too many people were taking a photo of it?

While some people didn’t understand Binny’s appeal, others responded with sadness. Some compared it to Disney removing Mickey Mouse from the theme park.
bring back “Binny” in front of the Rose & Crown in Epcot!!! What have you done?? It’s like taking Mickey out of Magic Kingdom.

Furthermore, others chimed in with the sad reality of the famous trash can’s ultimate fate. Disney cast members reportedly were tired of the exit being blocked, and it was becoming an issue.
It started as something fun, but got ruined by groups constantly blocking the exit and, just as important, the accessible ramp too much. Moving the silly thing was probably the best solution, outside of posting a character attendant/photographer there…

It is not officially confirmed where Binny is now. He could be entirely removed, but some Cast Members claim he is the trash can now found across the street from the Rose and Crown Pub, where there is more room. In light of the problems, it seems like Disney had no choice but to address the situation. Hopefully the Disney Day Drinkers Club can rally behind this new “always trashed” garbage can across the way.
