Disneyland Celebrates 67 Years Since Opening

As Walt Disney World Resort continues to celebrate its 50th anniversary, Disneyland has begun celebrating its 67th! On this day 67 years ago, in the year 1955, Disneyland theme park officially opened to the public with celebrations in person (that included founder Walt Disney and his family) and a televised press event that aired on the ABC Television Network.

Many changes have come to Disneyland Resort since the original opening of Disneyland in the summer of 1955, and it’s hard to say what Walt Disney himself would have thought of those changes — but Disney fans have been open about their own individual thoughts on the matter, both positively and negatively!

These days, Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Parks like Disney California Adventure are still frequented by devout Disney fans (including plenty of Hollywood-based celebrities like Chrissy Teigen and Chris Evans), as well as some old-timers who still remember the way that Disneyland was when it was a barebones theme park compared to the constantly-expanding behemoth that it is today.

In recent months, Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Parks like Disney California Adventure have gone through a lot — as has the Walt Disney Company overall. Recent controversies, Walt Disney World Resort’s conflicts with the governor of Florida, and a drastic change in leadership have made the Walt Disney Company falter (and increased Disney Guests’ discontent).

However, many Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort visitors will still hold firm in their belief that Disney magic remains — especially in heartwarming character interactions such as this one!
