On Wednesday, Disneyland Park experienced a major hiccup, leaving thousands of Southern California locals and visitors frustrated as they found themselves in a ride shutdown frenzy. Disney Park guests took to social media, sharing their dismay as they dashed from one attraction to another, only to find them all closed.

Routine Ride Shutdowns and Maintenance

Ride closures are not uncommon at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Typically, these shutdowns last less than an hour and don’t significantly affect the overall guest experience. However, the situation on Wednesday morning was an exception, with multiple key attractions out of commission.

Reddit user u/LeopardAdditional525 voiced their frustration after discovering that “everything” they wanted to ride was closed. Attractions like Indiana Jones Adventure, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad were among those not operational at the start of the day.

β€œIt was pretty rough today,” u/dericiouswon added, reflecting the widespread sentiment of disappointed guests.

Possible Earthquake Impact?

One user, u/thatguyfromlasvegas, speculated whether a 3.3 magnitude earthquake in the Inland Empire the previous night might have affected ride operations. While it’s uncertain if the quake had any direct impact, it’s possible that Disney was conducting additional safety checks to ensure all rides were secure.

In addition to unexpected closures, several Disneyland Park attractions were already scheduled for maintenance. These included Space Mountain, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, Disneyland Railroad, and the Disneyland Monorail. Splash Mountain also closed permanently on May 31 to make way for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is set to open on November 15, 2024.
