When Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park finally reopened after an extensive refurbishment period, fans and would-be Guests discovered a significant increase in Disney Movie IP. Disney’s Frozen was given yet another permanent Park presence at the Walt Disney World Resort with visible characters and a new menu with several Frozen-themed items.
As Imagineers completed a Water Park “changing of the guard,” closing Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park just as they reopened Blizzard Beach, it was speculated by many–including this reporter–that the second and larger Disney World water Park would reopen with its own Disney character additions. On Thursday, March 2, Disney Parks announced the reopening of Typhoon Lagoon, and we got our answer.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will reopen later this month, and, unlike its sister Park, will not have an additional assortment of Disney Movie IP.
All of the same attractions people have loved for decades will be returning, from the classic water coaster Crush ‘n’ Gusher to the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool at the base of the Miss Tilly-topped Mount Mayday. Its scale of thrills from the Humunga Kowabunga to Ketchakiddee Creek will also be right where fans left it.
But not everything will be unchanged. Disney Parks did announce that the Snack Shack will feature a Moana treat.
Moana-Themed Dole Whip Coming to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will open with a formerly limited-edition Dole Whip inspired by the Walt Disney Animated Studios Film Moana. Originally offered during World Princess Week, the Hei Hei Cone will be back permanently for all Water Park Guests to enjoy.
Disney Parks states, “The dessert featuring DOLE Whip Strawberry swirled with vanilla is back for guests to enjoy, as well as the popular Hei Hei Cone made of DOLE Whip Pineapple and Raspberry available at Snack Shack.”
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park reopens on March 19, and its after-hours event H2O Glow After Hours returns on May 20.
We at Disney Fanatic will continue to update our readers on Disney Parks news and stories as more developments come to light.
