A guest was utterly frustrated with bad decorum and behavior from fellow park-goers at Southern California’s Disneyland Resort.

There are times when guest behavior at the Disney Parks is simply beyond the limits of social acceptability. From picking fights with fellow cast members and guests to intentionally creating chaos or threatening the jobs of cast members to get one’s own way, there have been many examples of guests who’ve behaved badly over the years.

Of course, sometimes, what ends up being true is that bad behavior becomes the norm among some guests, leaving others wondering how this became the reality.

One guest recently took to social media to comment: “I’m flabbergasted by the line skipping in DL.”

The guest explained that they were “born and raised in theme parks” and “grew up being dropped off by my parents to go to Disney World parks, Universal/Islands of Adventure,” and what have you. They explained they had been a Passholder for multiple decades.

The guest continued in absolute shock that they “cannot believe the entitlement and behavior of people” in Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, noting that they were “beyond surprised.”

The OP’s main cause for concern was the following behavior that has become commonplace:

When did it become the norm that if you’re in front of the rest of your party you expect people to move aside for the rest to come up? I’ve never in my long legged life seen this behavior.

It isn’t the first time that line cutting has been flagged as a prominent behavior at the parks, and guests have expressed their frustration about this choice to inconvenience fellow guests. Time and again, park-goers have pointed out that some guests can be incredibly selfish and entitled during their Disney Park vacations.

In the comments guests commiserated with the OP.

One commented, “I worked at Six Flags for over a decade, and we always had people trying to cut, and it got even worse when the Flash Pass was introduced. It’s sad to hear that it has spread to the more expensive theme parks.”

In the comments, many Disney fans also debated whether the reason line-cutting had become as bad as it has was because of “bad policies” when it comes to queueing.

One commented, “Yeah while a sense of entitlement fueled by social media might be growing in park guests, I really think line cutting comes from how miserable the queueing process has become with lightning lane and genie+. Bad behavior is almost always a reaction to bad policies.”

However, not everyone agreed. Another fan responded to this thought, saying, “partially disagree with this, it was also bad in the days of paper fastpass, maxpass, FP+, etc. This has gotten much worse since covid, and people just feel entitled to do whatever they want. I say ‘partially disagree’ because I have no way to actually quantify this effect, it’s just something I’ve observed.”

Fundamentally, whether because it is an effect of COVID-19 or because fans have become less willing to be considerate of others, this behavior has certainly reared its head more and more at the parks.

It’s worth noting that being more aware and compassionate towards other guests allows more people to have a better time at the Disney Parks!

  1. Disney needs to enforce the line cutting ban, Make them all go back to the end of the line. If they do it enough it will stop

  2. I have been at Disneyland in line for big thunder Mountain, when a group of about six adults decided that the fast past lane. Oh excuse me the lightning lane looked inviting, so they older gentleman with the gray hair said come this way ducked down the rope. got the rest of his crew over there with him, and they just hopped in the lightning lane line, and Got right on while the rest of us stood in line like good citizens that we were the last couple of months

  3. I don’t understand why people blame bad behavior, hate and violence on Covid when the real reason is obvious……It is because of Trump and all the Violent Rhetoric and Instigating Violence and Entitlement among his Cult. Facts Matter!

  4. I totally get having to run a small child to the bathroom, some lines are forever long. But when you have an adult supposedly “holding” a place for the whole family/group, that’s just plain rude. We’ve all been standing forever and you thinking it’s okay to bring 6 or more to cut, get ready for mad people. Just step to the side and wait for your group! I’ve also seen them jump to the lightning lane and they have no remorse. Our society is a mess!
