For many Disney visitors, waiting in line is an inevitable part of the Park experience. There is no escaping it. In fact, lines seem to be getting longer with every new system implemented to address the situation. Furthermore, the growing number of line cutters at Disney Parks has transformed this already annoying experience into an infuriating ordeal. Patient Guests often find themselves aggravated by individuals or large groups that brazenly disregard the established rules, treating fellow park-goers’ time and patience with disdain or thinking they are above the rules.
It may seem like Cast Members have little concern for the problem, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. They are actually just as frustrated as you are but admit that it is hard to do anything to solve it themselves effectively.
Cast Members Line Cutting Woes
While Disney’s Cast Members strive to create a memorable and enjoyable experience for every Guest, they face a significant hurdle in combating cutting in line. Most Cast Members are dedicated to maintaining order and fairness, if only to improve their own day. They have little reason to stand by while people squeeze their way through queues, using hundreds of different excuses to think they are justified, while most are just rotten.
However, addressing the issue is harder than it seems for Cast Members. They must rely heavily on visual confirmation of such incidents before intervening. This reliance on direct observation often renders them helpless in the face of covert line jumping, as offenders are often out of sight in queues that stretch for hundreds of feet.
Annoyed parkgoers often take to social media to vent their frustrations to other Disney Guests, screaming into the void and wondering if anything can be done to stop the problem. One Cast Member in a recent Reddit thread on the topic made it their mission to help explain to these upset people why line cutting is a never-ending battle:
CM here: trust me we do not like it any more than you guest do. We can only do something about it if we actually see it. The reason is because it’s a “he said she said” situation. It could be a guest that’s angry at another guest and wants to get back at them. So unless we see it, we can’t do anything. Now I have definitely called people out that I’ve seen. For me it definitely tends to be the teenagers trying to pull a fast one
Line cutting is aggravating

Cast Members must be very careful when accusing parkgoers of wrongdoing. While many of these offenders are legit, the people in line could be just as likely to stir the pot due to other issues or frustrations. If there is no firsthand proof of something occurring, Cast Members must remain neutral. Some have resorted to hilarious measures when they see it, however, including letting Guests get all the way to the front of the line before confronting them.
Disney Parks Combat Line Cutters
The Walt Disney Company has tried to implement ways to lessen the occurrence of line cutting, though how well it deters people is questionable. Signs at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida have been popping up at the entrance to attractions with a warning before entering the queue.
Attention: All members of your party mst be present when enterting the queue. Please see a Cast Member for asistance should you need to exit the queue for any reason.
Saw this at Disney World and wanted to see if anyone spotted one in Disneyland too. They finally put their foot down!

The general consensus among Disney fans is that line cutting is an aggravating but unsurprising occurrence when waiting for a ride. They understand that Cast Members can only do so much to deter it. At the end of the day, unpleasant people are something we all have to deal with in life.
