In a loss for Disney in the Disney vs. Orlando debate, a family shared that their kids had more fun at Universal than at Walt Disney World.

The Disney vs. Universal debate is endless. It’s ramped up even more since former Disney CEO Bob Chapek began instituting changes that left many Disney families and devoted fans outpriced and excluded from continuing an experience they had made a tradition out of. Additionally, the Disney Parks have seen multiple ride breakdowns, and often, Guests’ favorite attractions are not in the best shape they could be.

Jill Robbins reported onher family’s trip to Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando for Insider. Robbins expressed that they had visited Disney World more often than Universal, and were Disney Vacation Club members, but due to the long lines and other issues at the Disney Resort, the Guests were left frustrated and wanted to go to Universal more often.

Robbins detailed in the article that the experience, while good, was not well planned, and she would not plan it the same way a second time. She also highlighted an interesting price comparison,

At the time we visited, our room at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge was valued at around $900 per night, which is a ton of money to spend on a hotel and close to what we paid for our day at Universal.

While Robbins concluded by saying they were still fans of Disney and would be going back to the Resorts, they would be planning it differently, especially considering her children, 12 and 13 years old, enjoyed Universal more than Disney. She added she would plan to “split their time” between the two Resorts in the following way:

We’ll spend two days at a Universal premier resort and then continue our trip by staying at a Disney resort. By staying at a Universal resort, we won’t need to pay for rideshares plus we’ll get free Express Passes for the duration of our stay

The battle between Disney and Universal for the top spot is well-known. We have reported on various statements by Universal and Comcast executives who believe Universal is giving Disney a run for its money and will overtake the Mouse House soon.

The Walt Disney World Resort is home to four Disney Parks. Each Theme Park—Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disneys Animal Kingdom and Disneys Hollywood Studios— is beloved by Guests for its unique offerings.

Universal Orlando Resort in Central Florida rivals the Walt Disney World Resort in its offerings. It’s home to three Parks—Universal Studios Florida, Volcano Bay, and Islands of Adventure. It will be home to a fourth Universal Park, Universal’s Epic Universe as well.

The Orlando Theme Parks are constantly fighting to be the number one Theme Park in Orlando, Florida.

We at Disney Fanatic will continue to report on all Disney news.
