With access to National Geographic being a staple of the Disney+ streaming service, Disney fans across the country have access to a variety of nature films and documentaries. One of the latest documentaries to hit Disney+ focuses on a man we are all very familiar with following almost two years of the COVID-19 pandemic being a part of our lives, Dr. Anthony Fauci.
The film, simply titled Fauci, takes readers back to the early days of America’s top infectious disease specialist, showing how his career started out and how he became a household name over the course of the COVID-19 crisis, often paving the way for recommendation to be made by the Center of Disease Control and ultimately the cities and s+tates that enabled public safety restrictions (including the ones that resulted in the necessary closure of Disney theme parks in March of last year.)
Fauci shows how prior to COVID-19 being a part of our daily lives, Dr. Fauci served in his role as an infectious disease specialist under seven presidents, starting his journey in this field years ago during the Reagan presidency when he worked as an advisor during the AIDs crisis. On top of his work during the AIDS crisis, Fauci was instrumental in providing research on infectious diseases and outbreaks including SARS, Ebola, and West Nile Virus, all before the world changed due to COVID-19.
Produced for Disney+ by National Geographic Films, the documentary provides an objective look at the career of this prominent figure, with a focus on how he provided research and became the voice of reason for basically an entire country during the pandemic. Throughout the documentary, viewers can learn more about Fauci through interviews with colleagues of his, including former US President George W. Bush, Bill Gates, and more.
The documentary genre on Disney+ is highly underrated if you ask us, especially when you consider all of the National Geographic content available to viewers. Fauci is available to stream now, and for more new content on Disney+ we recommend checking out post about Disney+ Day coming next month, as well as seasonal specials available during Hallowstream.
