Just over one year ago — March 1, 2022 — Disney opened its newest hotel at Walt Disney World Resort. However, the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser was not your ordinary hotel. Guests who decided to stay at the Galactic Starcruiser would enjoy a 2-day fully immersive Star Wars experience. There would be lightsaber training, special food, a chance to join the Rebellion or the First Order, and more. It was the ultimate adventure for Star Wars fans. There was just one glaring problem — the absolutely insane price tag.
The Galactic Starcruiser only has two-day voyages, and the lowest price available — for two adults — is $4,800. The cost goes up from there, maxing out at $6,000 for three adults and one child. From the moment pricing was announced, fans took to social media to vent their frustrations. Star Wars is one of the most popular franchises in existence, but many Star Wars fans who wanted to take a journey on the Galactic Starcruiser simply couldn’t afford the expense.
Not long after the Galactic Starcruiser opened, it became clear that it wasn’t a hotel that would be booked out years in advance. In fact, just months after it opened, the Starcruiser was struggling to fill its rooms, and there are only 100. Eight months after the Starcruiser opened, Disney announced that it would be offering discounts on the hotel for Disney Vacation Club members. According to Disney, DVC members could book the Starcruiser for 30% fewer points than the points chart said for a certain voyage. It was a great discount that added up to some serious savings.
That was apparently the right move to make. On March 24, theme park reporter Scott Gustin shared that, not only was the voyage sold out, but there was a waiting list for those who wanted to book.
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Disney Vacation Club Member Voyage is sold out and the waitlist is cutoff due to demand. The Aug. 19-21 voyage was discounted at 30% off and available to eligible DVC members.

While the Starcruiser is full for the August voyage, it may continue to struggle if Disney does not continue to offer discounts. Disney has already cut out dozens of voyages that were originally set to take place this fall. Guests are also frequently sharing pictures of the Starcruiser looking empty, as many of the rooms are not full.
