The Disney Genie service that replaced Fastpass has certainly been met with lots of negativity from Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort Guests — especially ardent Guests who visit the Disney Parks often — with high prices about the add-on service that Guests can buy for their theme park visits, called Genie+, being one of the many grievances.
High prices in general have also been a stumbling block for Disney Parks, with more and more Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort Guests opting to save money by skipping Disney vacations and, in some cases, heading to the enemy (Universal). But now, the Walt Disney Company has added even more fuel to the fire by raising Genie+ prices yet again — and this time, to the highest price per person so far!
Genie+ now costs $30 per person in Disneyland, and $29 per person in Walt Disney World Resort. Disneyland’s $30 Genie+ price tag is a record-breaking high for this add-on Genie service; the $29 per person price tag at Walt Disney World Resort, on the other hand, is not new (even though it continues to rankle Disney World Guests).
Genie+ might be worth it for some Disneyland and Disney World Guests who want to purchase individual Lightning Lane options for in-demand rides or attractions and skip long lines (especially with the spring break crowds coming), but for some Disney Guests, $30 or $29 will be too high a price to pay per person!
This is particularly true since many Disney Guests travel to Disney Parks with their families, and $30 per person would add up quickly for a day in the Disney Resort theme parks. Are you heading to Disneyland Resort soon? Are you going to splurge on Genie+, or is this high price out of your price range?
Disney has insisted that Genie+ is a success, but have you found that to be the case in your own customer experience within the Disney theme parks? Let us know on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!
