An incredibly unfortunate incident happened at Magic Kingdom, and a Guest was left heartbroken, shattering their image of Disney World as their safe space.

The Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is known to be “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” and for good reason! The Disney Resort and each Theme Park it’s home to allow Guests from around the world to live out their fantasies and fulfill some of their most magical dreams. But one such Guest reported an occurrence that challenged the popular moniker of the Disney Resort.

Disney Guest and Reddit user from Mexico, u/AGCM, shared a disheartening tale of how Guests in line were behaving and talking about them. They were in line for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and during that time, this experience occurred. They shared,

The line was awfully long and we totally prepared for it. [My partner and I] were ready, we were excited and we were talking about our day all the way through the queue. Then suddenly a party of two behind us started to say some very offensive stuff. Particularly about the fact we were talking Spanish and how we were idiots by not speaking English in their country. They didn’t know we are both fluent in English.

The Guest went on to share how their heart broke on hearing this because they had always considered Disney their “safe space.” They even added that because these people sat behind them on the ride, “their picture from the ride has [the other Guests] on it.” Guests in the comments were incredibly sympathetic to the Guest and called out the racism in that situation. The commenters also shared how they didn’t appreciate that attitude on the part of the other Guests.

These kinds of situations have been increasing at Disney World, so much so that Disney has even started warning Guests about being courteous to each other as well as Cast Members. It should go without saying that with or without warnings from Disney, it’s important to treat all Guests and people at the Disney Resort with respect and kindness.

Disney has also demonstrated that it will take action for things deemed racist, think the way they handled the situation with the Splash Mountain ride, which is soon to be replaced by Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, with Splash Mountain seeing its last day at the end of the week.
