The Depp vs Heard trial certainly made waves last year, both in the Disney community and nationwide — and according to Entertainment Tonight, Johnny Depp has just made a very impactful choice when it comes to the $1 million reparation that he received from Amber Heard!

The A-list actor (who recently celebrated his 60th birthday with hundreds of strangers) is reportedly donating the $1 million by dividing the money equally between five different causes.

Fair Is Fair

Apparently, the following charities are each receiving $200,000 from the Pirates of the Caribbean star: Make-A-Film, The Painted Turtle, Red Feather, the Teitaroa Society, and the Amazonia Fund Alliance.
Make-A-Film is an organization that “pairs actors, writers, directors and producers with children who are battling life-threatening or serious illnesses”.
The Painted Turtle is the late Paul Newman’s organization, which focuses on giving inspiring camp adventures to sick children.

Red Feather is an organization that works with Indigenous communities “to develop and implement lasting and impactful housing solutions”; the Teitaroa Society is Marlon Brando’s charity, which focuses on the well-being of “island and coastal communities,” and the Amazonia Fund Alliance funds the crucial work being done by “important Brazilian Non-profit organizations such as SPVS, SOS AMAZÔNIA, [and] ALOK Institute.”

The Cause That’s Close to Home

Since Johnny Depp is familiar with the suffering that both sick children and their struggling parents endure on a very personal basis, donations to Make-A-Film and The Painted Turtle certainly make sense.

Depp can be seen speaking about his personal experience with this struggle in the old interview shown below from The Graham Norton Show.

Johnny Depp’s Legacy

Supporting The Painted Turtle and the Teitaroa Society also makes a great deal of sense because both Paul Newman and Marlon Brando were Hollywood royals that Depp most likely admires — and, like him, they were clearly celebrities who were eager to use their funds to affect real change in people’s lives, even after they had passed away.

With climate change doing catastrophic damage in coastal communities and island communities, Johny Depp’s financial support of the Teitaroa Society is also crucial — and so is his support of the Amazonia Fund Alliance, since the Amazon rainforest and its communities are facing severe struggles of their own.

Are you surprised to learn that Johnny Depp is donating this money, and is this the first time that you are learning about any of these impactful charities?
