Three New Harry Potter Theme Park Destinations Are on the Way

We have big news for Harry Potter fans around the world. Three new theme park destinations inspired by the Wizarding World franchise are moving forward, and for the first time, none of them belong to Universal Destinations & Experiences. While Universal continues operating its six existing Wizarding World lands across Orlando, Hollywood, Japan, and Beijing, other companies are stepping into the spotlight with new theme park experiences of their own.

Warner Bros. and J.K. Rowling have steadily broadened Harry Potter offerings in recent years, ranging from the popular Warner Bros. Studio Tour London to “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” stage productions. Meanwhile, flagship stores in major cities and traveling exhibitions have brought the magic of the Wizarding World to fans across the United States. Now, fans can finally look beyond Universal for new immersive destinations themed to the iconic fantasy franchise.

On Monday, Merlin Entertainments and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences announced that a new LEGO Harry Potter land is coming to LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort in Germany. This marks the first time LEGO’s bestselling Harry Potter toys and video games will materialize as a permanent theme park land. The expansion will also introduce the world’s first Harry Potter-themed hotel rooms.

Merlin’s CEO, Fiona Eastwood, called the collaboration a significant milestone, saying: “Partnering with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences is the ultimate showcase of what we do best – transforming the world’s most iconic brands into memorable, immersive experiences for millions of guests.”

More details about the land, including attractions and opening timelines, will be released within the next year.

LEGOLAND Deutschland is not the only resort preparing for a Wizarding World expansion. Warner Bros. previously announced a Harry Potter land for its Warner Bros. World theme park in Abu Dhabi.

With LEGO Harry Potter hotel rooms joining the LEGOLAND Deutschland lineup, the franchise will soon offer three new themed locations for fans to explore: the Abu Dhabi land, the German expansion, and the new overnight accommodations.

LEGOLAND operates 12 parks worldwide, including three in the United States. Whether additional Harry Potter destinations could come to U.S. parks remains unclear, as licensing agreements with Universal may limit expansion within American markets.
