Walt Disney Animation Studios is known for creating some of the most iconic animated movies of all time. While many of those are classics that have been around for decades — like Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid –, some of them are more recent, like Frozen and Moana. One of the most recent ones is Encanto, which was so popular that one of its songs even knocked “Let It Go” from Frozen off of the top spot for the most popular Disney song of all time. The film only came out in 2021 and has already made its mark in Disney history.
Encanto tells the story of the Madrigal family, who lives in Colombia. All blood-borne Madrigals are given a special gift. Well, everyone except Mirabel. She feels like the black sheep of the family, since her sister Isabella can create gorgeous flowers and is flawless. Her other sister Luisa has the power of super strength, and her mom’s food has healing powers. Mirabel’s uncle Bruno can… oh wait… we don’t talk about Bruno.
Fans have been so excited to see their favorite Encanto characters come to Disney Parks. Mirabel has meet-and-greet locations in both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney World Resort. Bruno has also been spotted around — making his debut during the 2022 Oogie Boogie Bash. And now, Disney will be bringing another character to The Most Magical Place on Earth.
According to the Disney Auditions website, they are currently looking for actors to play Mirabel’s oldest sister, Luisa.
Disney Live Entertainment is seeking Disney Character Look-alikes for the role of Luisa as depicted in the Walt Disney Animation Studios film Encanto. This role is for potential future special events.
Performers will have the opportunity to bring this role to life, in addition to performing as world famous Disney Characters at our Parks & Resorts near Orlando, Florida.
Disney Character Performers play before thousands of guests each day in character greetings, sightings, and other experiences across the Walt Disney World Resort. Performers sign autographs, pose for pictures, and help create magical moments with guests of all ages.
Disney is specifically looking for actors who are between 5’10” and 6’1″, “with warm, engaging, and outgoing personalities.”
Disney has not specified what “future special events” Luisa may be a part of. However, hard-ticketed events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and Disney After Hours parties have all been known to have rare characters. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is most well-known for being the only time guests can see Snow White’s Seven Dwarfs together at one time.
Encanto is currently available to stream on Disney+. The movie stars Stephanie Beatriz as Mirabel, Jess Darrow as Luisa, Diane Guerrero as Isabella, and John Leguizamo as Bruno. The incredible music for the film was created by Hamilton creator, writer, and star Lin Manuel Miranda.
It is not known if Luisa will be coming to other Disney parks at a later date.
