While it can be disappointing, dealing with either a Walt Disney World Resort or a Disneyland Resort attraction or ride closure is part and parcel of the Disney experience. As a part of being able to meet the safety standards set forth and ensure that every Theme Park and Disney Park Guest has a safe time at the Disney Parks while also meeting the high bar for a Disney Resort visit, many attractions and rides have to close down to undergo routine refurbishments. And now, another ride will be doing the same, yet again. The Matterhorn Bobsleds will be closing next month for an indefinite period.
As updated on the Disneyland Resort website, beginning April 17, 2023, Matterhorn Bobsleds will be closed for refurbishment. The attraction, which is located in Fantasyland at Disneyland Park, allows Guests to “Hurtle through a snow-capped mountain on a speeding alpine sled while avoiding the clutches of the Abominable Snowman.”
While the Matterhorn Bobsleds closing is definitely a temporary closure as Disney has made clear, it still bears mentioning that the Matterhorn Bobsleds is one ride in Disneyland Resort that closes more than most of its other counterparts and for comparatively longer periods of time recently. The ride last closed on August 8, 2022, and reopened on October 14, 2022. A quick look at the frequency and length of closures listed by Touring Plans over the last few years elucidates this point,
