A recent video of a cast member who was caught smoking in his Minnie Mouse costume has sparked a debate online among fans.

Going to the Walt Disney World Resort or the Disneyland Resort is known to be one of the best ways to enjoy that quintessential Disney experience. Whether it’s because you have the chance to meet your favorite face characters like Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, or Minnie Mouse, or for the amazing rides and attractions, it’s incontestable that Disney World and Disneyland truly are some of the best places to enjoy the Disney magic.

However, a recent video had fans confused about whether they were really seeing a cast member taking a smoke break at the Disney Parks.

Video of Minnie Mouse Cast Member Smoking Goes Viral, Makes Waves Online

A video dated January 1, 2024, has gone viral online depicting a male performer (allegedly a cast member) who was dressed as Minnie Mouse, taking a break and having a smoke at the Disney Parks.

The video prompted a variety of responses—some humorous, some serious—about what we see the cast member doing. Many found themselves surprised on noting they always assumed that female characters were played by female characters.

One commented, “I don’t know why I always assumed female mascots were played by girls.”

Another shared rather humorously, “Bro has to deal with children all day long. Cut him some slack.” 

However, one Disney fan was decidedly not amused by the video. “It’s clear he’s likely stressed out. So it’s very unfortunate for him. But stressed or not, you should keep your smoking addiction away from children when your job is supposed to represent happiness and joy. Cigarettes are anything but happiness.”

However, some eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out a couple of inconsistencies with the video, making the case that this was not any Disney Park.

One shared, “Wrong. This is the foot traffic entrance to the Mirage in Las Vegas. The dead giveaway is the little white statue in the bushes, which are everywhere at the Mirage. You can also see Treasure Island in the background, and the Venetian Tower.”

Another noted that Minnie Mouse was not with a handler, which is common practice at the Disney Parks.

Equally importantly, it’s highly unlikely that Disney would ever allow their cast members to smoke in plain sight the way this performer was. So fans can rest assured that this is more than likely not any Disney Park!
