While Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s feud with the Walt Disney Company rages on, many have started calling out the governor for how he has handled the situation. Some fellow politicians have called him “not a conservative” and insisted he hasn’t been able to handle the controversy well. At the same time, some critics have asked the Governor to focus on Florida’s “real needs.” There are also those who believe that Governor DeSantis needs to “just take the loss” and move on, leaving Walt Disney World be.
This is especially considering how central the Disney Resort is to Florida’s tourism. In fact, even many locals love the ability to drive to Disney World—Florida’s Turnpike System (while a long drive) does offer easy access from Miami to Orlando and Walt Disney World.
Recently, however, this has been up in the air due to the gas shortage currently experienced in South Florida. As reported by CNN, “More than half of gas stations in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area were without gasoline… after flooding from last week’s massive storm caused a wave of panic buying by drivers topping off their gas tanks.”
While crises certainly happen, especially due to inclement weather and unforeseen circumstances, one senator has called out the state for not having figured out the issues yet. Florida Senator Marco Rubio said, “It should have been figured out by now.”

"It should have been figured out by now … They gotta get this thing fixed. This is crazy." https://t.co/uWJOoaPDMZ

Senator Rubio pointed out it’s been four days since it happened, and they need to fix the issue.
Many Floridians shared their experience with the issue. One stated, “It’s a little better down here today. Some gas stations actually have the gas, but very very long lines. Not fixed completely. So frustrating.”
Others called out Governor DeSantis.
Meanwhile @GovRonDeSantis is busy going after a private business and entering a legal battle where the winner will be Disney and “Billable Hours” at Florida’s expense.

Meanwhile, some commenters didn’t take kindly to Senator Rubio’s comments calling him out for not doing his part to fix the problem. One Sean Simons said, “This video is bizarre. Who is “they?” This is the Sr. Senator from Florida. Constituents don’t want leaders to explain their problems. They want solutions. What is he doing to fix it? Even if it’s Desantis’ mess to clean up, as a Senator, you have to at least pretend to help.”
It’s important to note while there is a gas shortage in South Florida, it’s presently concentrated around the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area and isn’t really felt in Tampa or Orlando.
