A guest recently bemoaned a shocking price increase that happened overnight when they were making reservations for Walt Disney World’s Dolphin Resort.
The Walt Disney World Resort in Central Florida and the Disneyland Resort in Southern California are known to be some of the best places in the world for a Disney vacation. From incredible attractions and rides like Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom Park to lands like Pandora in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, there’s a lot to love.
In addition to this, to have the most immersive experience, guests often choose to stay onsite at Walt Disney World at one of the many Disney Resorts available.
While the Walt Disney World Resort is usually a magical place to enjoy a Disney vacation, recently, one guest reported a shocking story of an enormous price increase that tainted the vibe of their upcoming Disney trip. Reddit user u/Sausage_Wallet shared that they were looking for reservations for a short three-night stay in March as an add-on to their DVC (Disney Vacation Club) rental and were considering Disney’s Dolphin Resort for the stay.
The guest explained the first time they checked prices for the resort, the price was capped at $300, but when the guest checked once again the next day, the price had jumped to $800. The guest was stunned to see this steep and sudden price increase and particularly noted: “I’m in shock because this is an extra $1000 I wasn’t budgeting for.”
Many fellow Disney fans jumped in to explain the possible reasons for this sudden increase, ranging from some websites tracking a user’s device and increasing the price based on repeat visits to the website, and others explained that it might have been a spring break price increase.
Regardless, this increase in prices is not a new occurrence by any means. Disney has been under fire for years now for the constant price increases both at the resort hotels and the parks. Guests have complained time and again about the increase in prices, and many formerly devoted Disney Park fans have also had to give up their Disney vacations and traditions because of being priced out.
Notably, one common suggestion in the thread was for the OP to just stay down the street from Disney World, as the prices would be much cheaper and more accessible. It’s a trend that is becoming increasingly common with guests and one that the Walt Disney Company would do well to watch out for.
