Disney prices have been a point of contention for fans, with many feeling priced out, but a recent post tells us things haven’t changed thatĀ much.
The Walt Disney World Resort has long been known to be the ultimate spot for a Disney vacation destination. Fans from all over the world flock to the Disney Resort and each Theme Park to take in the variety of offerings that comprise the Disney experience. However, in recent timesāparticularly over the last yearāGuests have noted a notable increase in the prices for the Disney Parks and Disney Resort hotels.

Fans have expressed previously that Disney is “becoming like a Marriott” and have spoken about missing the old days. So what did prices at Disney World Resort hotels look like almost 30 years ago?
Reddit user and Disney fan u/ceburton shared Walt Disney World room rates from 1996 in a post on the social media platform:

Fans in the comments were first taken aback by how old they felt because of the post and then shifted their attention over to the content itself, and some interesting sentiments came to a head.
Reddit user u/MeTieDoughtyWalker shared, “The only value resort Iāve ever stayed in was in January 2007 and it was $95 a night, so it doesnāt seem like prices jumped too crazily in that eleven year period.” Another Guest noted on this same thread that the jump appears to have truly hit post-Covid.
However, another user, u/YellowT-5R, also shared, “It’s actually not as bad as I thought it would have been. We are at port Orleans now and only paid $50 more a night then what’s on the sheet.”
Another user corroborated this, who added they “stayed at All Star Music last January for $95/night.”

Disney’s rising prices have been at the center of multiple Disney controversies from fans for a long time. We have previously reported how Disney vacations have also resulted in too high a number of Disney fans going into debt. However, many Guest reports and this fan’s post seem to indicate perhaps things have always been pricey at the Disney Resort.
Is the issue then the rising cost or fans feeling like they are not getting the value of what they paid for?
