‘Splash Mountain’ Retheme Surprise: Beloved Character Not Part of New Attraction

After finding out Dr. Facilier might not make the Princess and the Frog retheme, now another character might be sitting the attraction out.

The Disney Parks are the perfect places to fulfill your most magical desires. Walt Disney World Guests who visit any of the Parks at the Walt Disney World Resort: Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom Park, or at the Disneyland Resort: Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, all find a plethora of rides and attractions to satisfy many a fantasy. There are chances to see beloved attractions, incredible parades, and nighttime spectaculars, indulge in mouth-watering dining options and have the opportunity to meet and hug your favorite characters.

One of the most beloved rides, and since the announcement of its retheme is Splash Mountain, soon-to-be Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

At D23 Expo, fans got a first look at the ride, which will feature an all-new story that takes place after the film’s events with voice acting by Anika Noni Rose (Princess Tiana), Bruno Campos (Prince Naveen), Michael-Leon Wooley (Louis), and Jenifer Lewis (Mama Odie).

Jim Cummings, the voice of the beloved firefly Ray, spoke about the ride in an interview with The Movie Dweeb. Check it out:

 

Earlier we reported that its likely that Dr. Facilier would be absent from the ride, and now it seems that Cummings’ lightning bug will also be excluded. He explained, “my character is not in it because it takes place in ensuing chapters after the movie closes and I’m already in heaven.”

No official closing date has been announced for Splash Mountain, but the ride is clearly gearing up for closure. Many fans have been noting myriad issues with the ride, from more breakdowns to parts of the ride not lighting up as they should.
