TRON Lightcycle Run Made an Unexpected Appearance At Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour

TRON Lightcycle Run was one of the longest anticipated Disney rides prior to its opening last month. It’s one that was surrounded by its own issues due to some Guests and Cast Members not being able to fit on the ride; this was in addition to the previous issues of how long Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney were taking to debut the ride at Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World. (To be fair, there was a pandemic during that time, still, the complaint is widespread.)

While on TRON, Guests can “Climb aboard your very own Lightcycle and take off on a high-speed adventure, racing against the Grid’s most menacing Programs. Surge past your fierce opponents as you attempt to cross through 8 Energy Gates and secure your team’s victory—so you can survive to race another day.”

TRON is one of those rides that has become part of the ultimate Disney experience. But recently, some fans were surprised by an unexpected TRON connection and “appearance” at a Taylor Swift concert.

As some may know, pop sensation Taylor Swift is currently on her enormously socially relevant and groundbreaking tour, “The Eras Tour.” It’s the ongoing sixth-headlining concert tour by the American singer-songwriter. Since Swift couldn’t go on tour for her last four albums, the tour is a culmination of her work over her career thus far. It has included songs from her Lover era, (think “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince” and “Cruel Summer”) as well as from 1989 with “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s version)”, and some classic Taylor Swift hits like “Love Story.” It’s been widely well-received, and fans are thrilled at Swift’s commitment to her performances.

As part of her concert, Swift performs the song “Blank Space,” and during the song, performers ride around in blue glowing bicycles—ones that immediately reminded some Disney fans of TRON Lightcycle Run. A fan called Kevin Nolan on TikTok took to the platform to make the joke, sharing with the caption, “this joke might be too niche, but I laughed for about 15 minutes at this so i’m posting it anyway 🫣🏍️.”

The fans who did get the reference were living for the humor. One commented, “THE TAYLOR X DISNEYWORLD SLANDER I LOVE IT.”

Another fan Bethany Danielle also agreed, “there is such a niche group that will both see and understand this and i’m living for it 😂.”

It’s certainly a very niche joke, but one that we chuckled at nonetheless.
