Getting to Universal Studios Florida early has always been a popular Halloween Horror Nights strategy, but HHN 35 is taking “early” to another level.
Universal Orlando Resort is once again offering Stay & Scream for eligible guests, allowing them to remain inside Universal Studios Florida as daytime operations give way to Halloween Horror Nights. This year, however, guests could begin their HHN experience in the middle of the afternoon.

With haunted houses opening as early as 2 p.m., a returning wristband system, and several different opening windows throughout the afternoon, there are some important details visitors should understand before their trip.
Stay & Scream Starts Before the Sun Goes Down
Halloween Horror Nights officially begins at 6:30 p.m., but that won't be the real starting time for everyone.
Stay & Scream guests will have access to three haunted houses beginning at 2 p.m.
That's a substantial head start for anyone hoping to complete all 10 houses in a single visit.

Instead of spending the hours before HHN waiting outside Universal Studios Florida, eligible visitors can remain inside the park and potentially begin experiencing some of the night's biggest attractions.
Who Can Use Stay & Scream?
Universal requires guests to have admission for both portions of the day.
Visitors need valid daytime admission to Universal Studios Florida along with a valid Halloween Horror Nights ticket for that same evening.
That includes eligible Universal Orlando Annual and Seasonal Passholders who also have HHN admission.
Guests visiting with single-day or multi-day Universal tickets can also use Stay & Scream when they have valid Halloween Horror Nights admission.
There's another route for visitors who don't plan to spend the entire day at Universal Studios Florida.
Scream Early Gets Guests Inside at 2 P.M.
Universal's Scream Early ticket allows visitors without regular daytime admission to enter Universal Studios Florida before Halloween Horror Nights.
For HHN 35, Scream Early begins at 2 p.m. That's earlier than the previous 3 p.m. entry time.
Prices start at $70 per person, and guests must still purchase separate Halloween Horror Nights admission.
The timing is particularly notable because three haunted houses are also scheduled to open at 2 p.m. Guests using Scream Early could therefore enter Universal Studios Florida around the same time early haunted house operations begin.
Expect Wristbands Instead of Traditional Holding Areas
The Stay & Scream experience looks different than it did several years ago.
Before 2025, Universal generally kept Stay & Scream participants inside designated holding areas during the transition into Halloween Horror Nights.
Universal replaced that approach with a wristband system in 2025. Eligible guests could move around the park and continue experiencing attractions rather than remaining inside one holding area.

That system will continue for Halloween Horror Nights 35.
Universal will distribute wristbands near Guest Services beginning at park open. Two additional distribution locations will become available at 2 p.m. near Hogwarts Express: King's Cross Station and Illumination's Villain-Con Minion Blast.
Guests will need those wristbands to access the haunted houses operating before HHN officially starts.
Don't Expect All 10 Houses at Once
The afternoon will unfold gradually.
At 2 p.m., three haunted houses are scheduled to open.
At 4 p.m., Universal will open queues for select additional houses. However, guests should remember that an open queue doesn't necessarily mean the house itself has started operating.
At approximately 5:15 p.m., more haunted houses are expected to begin welcoming guests.
The complete lineup should be operating when Halloween Horror Nights officially begins at 6:30 p.m.
Universal hasn't confirmed which individual houses will open during each period. Guests should use the Universal Orlando app to follow current opening times during their visit.
HHN 35 Has a Packed Lineup
Halloween Horror Nights 35 takes place on select nights from August 28 through November 1, 2026.
Guests will have 10 haunted houses to experience: Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control, Sinners, Stranger Things, Hellraiser, Evil Dead Burn, Cybergoria, H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular!, INVASION: Alien Abduction, MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals, and Ozzy Osbourne.

The event's “Infernal Carnival of Nightmares” theme puts Jack and Oddfellow back at the center of HHN.
The entertainment extends beyond the houses. Scare zones include Infernal Carnival of Nightmares, Sideshow of Decay, and Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Universal is also planning a Stranger Things lagoon show and Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir.
Arriving Early Could Matter More Than Ever
Stay & Scream won't guarantee short waits all afternoon, and guests won't know ahead of time exactly which houses will open first.
Still, beginning at 2 p.m. gives eligible visitors a potentially valuable advantage.
Anyone who completes several houses early could spend the nighttime hours exploring scare zones, watching shows, revisiting favorite houses, or simply moving at a less frantic pace.
For Halloween Horror Nights 35, arriving early no longer means showing up shortly before the gates open. For some guests, the night could effectively begin in the middle of the afternoon.
