After Goofy Actor “Permanently Injured” Woman, She’s Suing Disney

Per the latest reports, a woman is suing Disney after she was left “permanently injured” when a Goofy actor fell on her at the parks.

Going to the Walt Disney World Resort or the Disneyland Resort is universally agreed upon to be one of the best places to enjoy the Disney experience. From the amazing rides and attractions like Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad to the incredible theme parks like Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park in Walt Disney World and Disney California Adventure Park in Disneyland, there’s a lot to love.

However, not all experiences at Disney are as magical and happy as one might hope. The Walt Disney Company has had to deal with more than one lawsuit from a disgruntled guest in the past.

Some of these accusations are more serious than others. For example, we at Disney Fanatic reported on a lawsuit from a woman who reported serious injury to her internal organs after a painful slide ride in Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park.

It’s known by fans as the infamous “Wedgie lawsuit,” wherein Ms. Emma McGuinness, who rode Humunga Kowabunga in Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park with her mother and daughter, suffered a “painful wedgie” while on the ride. McGuinness and her husband are suing Disney for $50,000 in damages.

However, it’s not the only lawsuit that the Disney Parks have battled, and today, we bring news of another one.

Disney guest Katrina Griffin, who visited Disney California Adventure Park on April 3, 2022, with her daughter, is suing Disney after she reportedly was left with permanent injuries after her time there.

The lawsuit asserts that as Griffin was bending over to tie her daughter’s shoes, a Disney cast member dressed as Goofy “walked directly” into her, and she fell onto the “hard cement.”

According to the lawsuit, the cast member ended up falling with “all of his body weight,” and this resulted in “severe, traumatic, debilitating, and permanent injuries that necessitated significant medical care as well as emotional pain and suffering” for Mrs. Griffin.

Katrina Griffin is not taking the matter lightly. According to the report, she is suing not only the Disneyland Resort but also the actor in the Goofy costume and the cast member who served as Goofy’s handler.

In addition to this, Griffin is also seeking damages for negligence. She argues that her injuries “will result in some permanent disability.”

As of the publication of this article, Disney has not made any official comment on the lawsuit. However, a case management conference is scheduled for September 4, 2024. At the present moment, it is unclear how the case and the situation will play out, both for Ms. Katrina Griffin and the Walt Disney Company and Disneyland Resort.

We at Disney Fanatic will continue to update fans on this story, as well as any and all the other latest news from Disney.
