A beloved Disney World family-friendly micro-brewery will be permanently shutting shop in a few days, per latest reports.
Closures are a part and parcel of the Disney experience. All Disney fans know the feeling of their rides and attractions shutting shop (both temporarily and permanently) for refurbishments or rethemes. However, sometimes, this can happen with Disney restaurants and watering holes as well.

Big River Grille and Brewing Works in Disney’s Boardwalk to Close Permanently
A fan shared a photo on social media of a notice posted to team members from the Human Resources department of SPB Hospitality dated January 18, 2024. The notice reads that Big River in Disney World will be closing effective January 21, 2024.
The notice goes on to explain how the cleanup process is going to start on January 22, 2024. The company is going to offer compensation to any former employees who choose to help out with the winding down process.

This is corroborated on the Walt Disney World website, where guests can see that times are no longer available past January 21, 2024. The restaurant served “award-winning beers and fresh twists on American pub favorites.”
Disney also released an official statement wherein they informed guests, “Big River Grille & Brewing Works will have its last day of operation on Jan. 21, closing on Jan. 22. To provide additional lunch options, guests can explore a rotating selection of food trucks beginning Jan. 22.”

Fans took a moment to honor the restaurant and also immediately took to speculating what would take its place. One commented that they hoped a “sports bar of some sort [replaces Big River]. I really miss espn zone.”
However, some expressed they wouldn’t really miss it. One shared, “Interesting! It wasn’t particularly good. I liked the idea of it (I’m a big fan of breweries) more than the actual execution. Hope something great makes its way into the space!”

Another added, “Same! I hyped [Big River] up to my wife and it smelled like old dirty wet rags. We did not stay.”
