Many people are aware of the “woke” accusation that has been made against The Walt Disney Company lately. Whether you agree with the claim or not, Disney has fought off the label of “woke,” which arguably is one of the leading causes for its dropping stock price, box office flops, and changes to its brand reputation.

Enter a new element to this debate: Caitlyn Jenner. The Olympic Gold Medalist and reality show star went through her transition back in 2015 from Bruce Jenner to Caitlyn Jenner.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), she lashed out at the Walt Disney Company and Disney CEO Bob Iger, claiming that she had been dropped from The Kardashians for not being “woke enough.” Known for her right-leaning conservative views, Caitlyn Jenner has in the past been a supporter of former president Donald Trump and even ran as a Republican replacement candidate for governor of California.

In a recent series of Tweets in response to former U.S. Ambassador Richard Grenell, Caitlyn Jenner took aim at the Walt Disney Company. Her post stated the following:

“I wonder if that’s why they fired me from my family’s reality show when it switched over to Hulu (@Disney ), from E!. I must not be woke enough. Too bad… I remember when Bob Iger was a young, hard-working valet, carrying my bags for me right after I won the Olympics.”

Caitlyn Jenner continued, “My ‘About Bruce’ specials on E! Were the highest rated in the franchise of KUWTK. Disney dropping me was purely political. I wasn’t woke enough for them, and Bob had no sense of loyalty after I gave them highest rated 2 HOUR 20/20 special on ABC, and massive boost to their ESPY ratings YoY when I spoke.”

She later corrected her comments about ratings.

The Kardashians

Jenner was a cast member of Keeping Up with the Kardashians for 13 seasons. She left the show for an E! spinoff series titled I Am Cait in 2015.

Caitlyn Jenner has stated in the past that despite being a high-profile trans person, she has received more flak for being conservative than being a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Whether or not her politics are part of the reason she has a sour relationship with Disney has not been confirmed.

It has been reported multiple times that Caitlyn Jenner’s relationship with Kris and other family members is far from ideal. It seems likely that family turmoil could have more to do with Caitlyn not being part of The Kardashians. But who knows?

About Steven

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
