There are a ton of issues that could happen while staying at a Disney Resort. Most of the time, these experiences are relaxing and amazing. However, sometimes problems rear their ugly heads.
One guest at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort recently encountered one of the worst things imaginable on vacation. No, we aren’t talking about bed bugs. It’s so much worse. A wild Disney Karen wrote them an angry letter over some noise they didn’t cause, throwing out insults and accusations.
The Allure of a Disney Resort Hotel
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a popular destination in the heart of Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The jewel of this resort is the Gran Destino Tower, which offers guests a one-of-a-kind experience, especially for Disney vacation club members.
The lobby is a visual masterpiece, drawing inspiration from surrealist art and the works of Salvador Dali. Guests are immediately captivated by the grandeur and elegance of the space.
One of the standout features of Grand Destino is its dining options. The Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood restaurant, located on the rooftop, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding parks and a delightful menu that combines the flavors of Spain with a modern twist.
Another gem is The Three Bridges Bar & Grill in the middle of the resort’s Lago Dorado, which offers an amazing water view. The Maya Grill also has great Tex-Mex food.
The Gran Destino Tower is also equipped with spacious and comfortable guest rooms, meeting facilities, and a serene environment, making it a perfect retreat for leisure and business travelers.
However, it’s worth noting that some guests can cause trouble even in this paradise. While noisy neighbors can cause frustration, you should have some decorum when dealing with the situation.
Karen at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
Recently, a “Karen” took it upon themselves to accuse the occupants of the Disney hotel room above them of being loud, sparking an unexpected clash in this otherwise idyllic setting.
The target of this Disney Karen’s rage took to the r/WaltDisneyWorld subreddit to post an image of a letter they received at their door while staying at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. The guest staying below them had enough of the intense noise and penned a letter instead of involving guest services. Here is what the letter said:
To the herd of elephants who are occupying this room! Please show SOME consideration to fellow guests. Constant banging around and dragging things across the floor is very selfish and inconsiderate to other guests. Plus 3 or 4 toilet flushes one right after the other – I should change your diet!!! “Loud voices SAM!!!”
Accusing the Innocent
There are several things wrong with this situation. The glaringly obvious one is that the suspect denies being noisy. In their post, they detail why it couldn’t have been them:
The thing is the night before I was at the MNSSHP and got back around 12:30 am, just 2 of us.. we are considerate and quite people, neither of us even got out of bed until 7 am. What would you do if this was left on your door? I wasn’t upset, I put it in the trash and went to EPCOT lol
Second, taking it upon yourself to pen a letter is not usually the way to solve a public dispute. Guest services deal with these complaints on a daily basis and could have likely either moved this guest away from the noise or addressed it themselves.
Lastly, even if this Disney Karen had the right room, they know nothing of the lives of the people above them. Perhaps there was a medical reason the toilet needed to flush several times. Instead, they use insults. Furthermore, Disney is known as a family experience. Children are on vacation while staying at these hotels and will often be full of energy.
Noise travels in large spaces occupied by many people. What sounds like directly above you could be caused by a different room. There is no way to know truly, so it is advised to let the resort handle these scenarios instead of penning a letter to the wrong person.
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is still a great place to stay. While not every guest will be perfect, most vacationers tend to be perfectly respectable to fellow guests.
Calling people Karen is just another form of bullying.
I really feel hurt when people use Karen in a negative way. They are bullies who do not stop.
