Dining Reservation Problems Sour Disney World Guest Experience

The Disney experience has been universally known to be well worth its salt in many ways. While going to a Disney theme park can have its challenges, the magic and wonder of being at the Walt Disney World Resort or the Disneyland Resort more than makes up for some of the hiccups that Guests face—think ride malfunctions, occasional bad Guest behavior and more.

A Disney Vacation Starts Before Your First Day in the Parks

However, this said, one fact about Disney vacations—be that a Walt Disney World vacation or a Disneyland vacation—today is that they begin before you step foot in a Disney theme park. Many have mentioned the amount of planning and research that goes into making a trip to a Disney Park successful, and one big part of this is getting reservations for your preferred dining experiences as soon as possible.

As Guests know, 60 days before your Disney trip, you can begin making reservations for dining experiences, which often allows Guests to visit some of the best eateries that Disney World offers. But recently, one Guest shared a frustrating experience they had when it came to making a reservation at Narcoosee’s.

The Guest took to Reddit to share,

Was up at 6AM today as my 60 day window for reservations opened. Had a really hard time getting reservations for the places/day/time I wanted. I started on the computer and then moved to the app. I noticed under Citrico’s and Narcoosee’s (which I could not get) it says (Reservations are recommended and can be made up to 66 days in advance). Wait…what? I even logged in yesterday hoping the window would be open and it was not. But this says 66 days in advance? Why is it so hard to get a reservation at Narcoosee? I saw plenty for California Grill and Cinderella’s Royal Table which are usually really hard to get. I know they just went through a refurbishment but this is ridiculous. I also could not get a reservation for Homecomin. Does anyone know what’s going on or have any tips? Thank you!

Guests in the comments were sympathetic to the OP and shared their tips for getting reservations, including letting them know that the reservation window opened a little before 6 a.m. and that Guests on the west coast needed to be up at 3 a.m.

However, one Guest did call out the absurd reality of how frustrating planning the perfect Disney vacation can be, sharing, “You need a PHD in Disney to plan a vacation now. Jesus. Lol.”

Another agreed, adding they felt fortunate to have had a planner for their Disney trip for their recent vacations.

While this is one Guest account and isn’t representative of the whole Disney experience by any means, it’s certainly indicative of a larger issue that Disney needs to account for—making planning easier for Guests. In fact, recently, the website crashed when some Guests were trying to get tickets for Oogie Boogie Bash.
