On January 27, The Walt Disney Company kicked off its 100th Anniversary celebration at the theme park that started it all — Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. The Happiest Place on Earth was covered in gorgeous lavender and silver decorations, specialty food and drinks were added to menus throughout Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, the Downtown Disney District, and Disneyland’s newest attraction — Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway — opened. Two new nighttime spectaculars also premiered — Wondrous Journeys at Disneyland and World of Color – ONE at DCA.
When celebrating Disney, it’s always important to remember one of Walt’s most famous quotes, “I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing—that it was all started by a mouse.” While many people would think that Disney Imagineers and designers would never incorrectly quote the man responsible for everything Disney, they were left disappointed.
When the Disney100 celebration kicked off, a Mickey Mouse statue sat at the beginning of Main Street, U.S.A., and the statue had one of the most iconic quotes wrong. Instead of saying “It was all started by a mouse”, the quote said, “It all started with a mouse.”
Fans were quick to call Disney out on the error, shocked that they would make such an obvious mistake. Disney waited nearly two weeks before they removed the statue, where it remained gone for almost a week.
Well, the statue is now back, and Walt’s quote is correct, honoring the original Imagineer the way he should be.

Sadly, the Mickey Mouse statue was not the only mistake Guests noticed on Disney100 decorations. Banners on the esplanade between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure had incorrect ride opening dates and spacing issues.
At this time, Disney has not said how long its Disney100 celebration will run, and Disneyland Resort is currently the only Resort celebrating. All other Disney Resorts will celebrate the special anniversary in their own way. Walt Disney World Resort will most likely have special Disney100 additions once its 50th Anniversary celebration ends on March 31.
