Per the latest Guest account, Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride is missing several characters, including some particularly iconic ones.
The Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort are some of the best places in the world to enjoy a Disney vacation. Walt Disney World boasts four Theme Parks, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disneyland Resort houses two Disney Parks, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Each Disney Theme Park has many a ride and attraction that is beloved by fans and keeps them returning to each Disney Park in droves.
Of these attractions, a particularly popular one has always been the “Pirates of the Caribbean” ride at Disneyland Park. On March 18, 1967, “Pirates of the Caribbean” opened at the Disney Park. Thanks to its highly detailed scenes, lavish special effects, and memorable characters, the attraction earned rave reviews and has remained a beloved classic.
Reddit user and Disney Guest u/seaofwonder took to the social media platform to share the change in the ride. They added:
Old Bill was replaced with a bottle of rum yesterday on PotC, and the dog next to the Pirate Trio was also gone
Many users in the comments were taken aback at the absence of the fan favorites and shared their thoughts.
U/Blonde-Fox mentioned, “Kind of haunting now that he’s gone. Like the rum finally got him… nothing left for the kitties to eat.” Meanwhile, another user, u/EmEmPerinwikle, explained, “They intermittently remove them. The donkey door is often shut too. If there is a mechanical problem they just take them out for a few days.”
U/Gn2Dlnd also added a similar thought,
Pretty normal for individual animatronics to occasionally be removed for maintenance – it seems like half the time, the donkey in the trio scene is out, and the barn door closed, or the townswoman chasing the pirate turntable scene is empty and the lighting turned off
At this time, there hasn’t been any official announcement from Disney about the disappearance of these figures, but we hope it’s only due to maintenance and that they will return soon.
We at Disney Fanatic will continue to report on all Disney news as it comes to light.
