TRON’s upcoming opening has Disney fans on the edge of their seats for the long-awaited debut of the roller coaster; it seems like Disney is celebrating this opening in what might be an unexpected way, but one that many Disney fans will appreciate nonetheless!
The TRON franchise has seen many starts and stops with Disney, whether with the construction and opening of the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster, which is soon to open at Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World Resort, or the now-confirmed upcoming Tron movie.

Disney recently announced that the roller coaster would debut in April, and fans are excited to finally have a date for the coaster that has been pushed back time and again (in fairness, due to the pandemic that swept the world).
Disney has been generating a lot of buzz around the soon-to-come attraction, with Good Morning America hosts taking a whirl on the coaster. Based on the 2010 film Tron: Legacy, the coaster has enthralled many fans with its concept and what it offers. Now, perhaps celebrating the new attraction’s opening and building off this excitement, Disney has given the official go-ahead on the third Tron movie, featuring Jared Leto in the lead, as reported by Hollywood Reporter.

We’ve reported previously that Disney dumped Tron 3 for some other Marvel and Star Wars projects, but it seems the buzz that the upcoming new attraction has generated has convinced the Disney executives that giving this project the green light is the right move.
Jared Leto, who has been fighting for the project since 2017, will star in the feature. Joachim Rønning is reportedly in talks with Disney to direct the film. Titled Tron: Ares , the film’s script has been penned by Jesse Wigutow and will follow 2010’s Tron: Legacy .
