
The Walt Disney World Resort is home to some of the best entertainment offerings for Guests who want to enjoy that quintessential Disney vacation. Whichever Disney Park Guests might choose to go to visit, from attractions like Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad to ones like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Disney Fanatics have the widest array of attractions and rides to pick from. However, sometimes a Guest’s favorite attraction or ride might have to change. Some would immediately recall Splash Mountain. As it turns out, more and more signs are pointing to another ride potentially seeing a retheme, or a complete face-lift, if for nothing else: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.

The iconic roller coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been flooded with rumors of a retheme for months. Ever since August 2022, when Disney filed a notice of commencement on an address that matched Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster with Orange County, these rumors have been fuelled. With the ride now being shut down for a refurbishment, many have been left wondering whether Disney has a retheme planned for this roller coaster as well.

Now there’s yet another reason why some fans believe this ride may get a complete overhaul.
February of 2023 saw Disney’s in-house contractor team—Buena Vista Construction—filing two different permits. Both permits extend until September 7 and September 14 of this year, respectively. They list corporations that have worked previously on rides like TRON Lightcycle/Run and the current EPCOT favorite, Cosmic Rewind.

There is presently no official word from Disney on what the fate of this attraction will be, but it seems apparent there is some significant work the ride is undergoing during its closure.
